2.  Take one half of the ice and with the ice pick cut a groove into the ice.
3. Place magnesium in the groove.
4. With the torch light the magnesium and place the other half of dry ice on it.

1. oxidized magnesium 
Because it stole the oxygen from the dry ice, it will turn oxydised.
2. elemental carbon
