The Westing Game has many twists and turns.  It can be confusing for the students at times.  As a class we started the book with a simulation/interactive unit by Nissa Hales which I found on Teachers Pay Teachers. https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Store/Littlelf-Landing
This gives the students some interaction and detective work as background.
