My personal impact goal is to pull a group of middle school students from study hall and begin with a refresh over RIASEC to identify their types. I want to use the scavenger hunt, guest speaker, and podcast activities to help them walk toward their possibilities in careers.

Most kids have a vision for their future, they just don't know what they need to do/take to get there.

I did the different career options and they continued standing/sat down when they didn't like the career anymore, then at the end would reveal - the kids loved it! I will do it again

I noticed the pre-survey data shows strong interest in career exploration across all grade levels, with many students wanting more hands-on experiences and real-world connections. A common theme was limited awareness of local career pathways and certifications, especially in technical and healthcare fields. Students also expressed needing more guidance on how to translate classroom skills into careers and internships. These findings suggest prioritizing experiential opportunities, clearer pathway information, and targeted advising support.

Primarily student self-report from the pre-survey, supplemented by observed patterns in activity choices and informal classroom interactions. I used RIASEC-aligned question themes within the survey to categorize interests, then triangulated those results with students’ participation in hands-on activities and teacher observations to identify strengths and values.

Students were given access to O*NET on Google Classroom, as well as hands-on activities and targeted research to discover new career options and learn what’s available locally and nationally. These exploration tools helped them connect interests to real occupations, identify required skills and certifications, and build next-step plans for internships, training, or coursework. (Not all studnets participated, just a handful)
