The Mississippi River

The Mississippi River is a long body of water that stretches vertically in North america. During the civil war, this river was used as a constant way of trading for certain goods and for communication throughout the south. The river even split between Mississippi and Louisiana, and people of the union settled here during the civil war, where they would strategize plans over the confederates.

Kentucky

Kentucky is a state that mostly contains a lot of plant life and the climate would depend on what season it was. Sometimes the weather could be extremely cold or extremely hot, as soldiers would either deal with extreme mud, snow, or heat waves. During the Civil War, soldiers from both the confederacy and the union would serve Kentucky, this is because a while after the battle of fort Sumter, in April of 1861, the state's legislature would consider it a border state as it was neutral with both sides.

Tennessee

During the Civil war Tennessee was a Confederate state and was divided similar to the nation itself. Many generals and people were at Tennessee in order to control their armies for battles, this included people like Joseph H. Acklen, Clay Allison, & James J. Archer.

Chesapeake Bay

During the civil war Chesapeake Bay was used as a strategy by soldiers in order to be used for shipping goods. The bay was a place for the union to settle. Many different union soldiers would settle here for their resources, many of which were soldiers and generals.

Fort Sumter

Harpers Ferry was located in West Virginia and was a place where soldiers would settle. However a raid would be devised on the location and armies would be abolished. The plan would be devised and led by John Brown with his federal army.

Manassas

With the Confederates winning the union would back down and retreat but at the cost of losing many soldiers, Brigadier General Irvin McDowell would be the man responsible for the battle.

Battle of Vicksburg

The battle of vicksburg would be another battle during the civil war that would have a great big impact on the country. It would weaken the confederacy by making a plan to split their soldiers in two as the union would fight them one by one. The general who conducted this whole plan was Ulysses S. Grant.

Fredericksburg

During the civil war, Fredericksburg would be yet again, a place where the Union and Confederates would fight again. However despite being a confederate location, only a few hundred would inhabit the place. During the whole battle of Fredericksburg, many troops were slaughtered and generals such as Stonewall Jackson would attend this fight.

And once again, in the town of Chancellorsville, a bloody assault would occur here. The union army would try to attack the confederates and fail horribly. General Jackson would be one of these generals that led their army and would send the union retreating with their army.

Shiloh

The battle of Shiloh would be one of the bloodiest battles in American History. In less than two days, both sides in total would have lost about 23,000 casualties. Both sides did not win nor lose, instead they lost many of their soldiers, people that they need to try and replace.

New Orleans is a city in Louisiana. New Orleans was known to be one of the biggest slave trade places in the South. In 1862, the Union captured the city from the Confederacy. This was a turning point and the capture of the Mississippi River was shortly after.

Chickamauga & Chattanooga

While Chickamauga & Chattanooga have their differences, they have their similarities. They were both starting to struggle with the civil war so they decided to develop an underground railroad between the two places. The confederate army would be the ones who won the battle of Chattanooga but lost over 20% of their army.

Richmond

Richmond would be considered a Confederacy capital and during the civil war, they saw the Union constantly trying to invade them and attack them constantly. Eventually the Confederates would have to evacuate and during all this, the union would set the town a flame. A few days later Abraham Lincoln would arrive to see the once thriving town.

Appomattox Court House
