During the civil war, this river was used as a constant way of trading for certain goods and for communication throughout the south. The river even split between Mississippi and Louisiana, and people of the union settled here during the civil war, where they would strategize plans over the confederates.

Kentucky is a state that mostly contains a lot of plant life and the climate would depend on what season it was. Sometimes the weather could be extremely cold or extremely hot, as soldiers would either deal with extreme mud, snow, or heat waves. During the Civil War, soldiers from both the confederacy and the union would serve Kentucky, this is because a while after the battle of fort Sumter, in April of 1861, the state's legislature would consider it a border state as it was neutral with both sides.
