My beliefs about students and their ability to achieve are that every child can learn and be taught. The following are things that prevents students from learning, (a) Themselves- students can be an interference to their own educational path, it could be, excuse, fear or laziness. (b)Parents -Mom & Dad allows the student to get away with not doing their work and enables the student.(c) Teachers- There are some teachers who will not take on the challenge of putting in the extra time with the students.

The school counselor’s role is to advocate for every student and promote systemic change by creating a case for change, developing a scalable innovation, and offering incentives. School counselors and schools implement a positive behavior intervention system. The school counselors would share their vision statement with the stakeholders and, within that statement, show them how they would advocate for their student's success through the school counseling scope of practices. Through a Comprehensive School Counseling Program, the school counselor focuses on all students and gives positive support to prepare them for their futures.

As a school counselor, I will use the modern framework for school counseling, the ASCA National Model. Using this model, I will emphasize the use of data-informed methods to quantify the impact school counseling can have on students. I will consult with the stakeholders and include them in the decision-making process of a program that encourages the success of every student. I would also communicate with the administrator, teachers, and parents following the steps the ASCA National Model shows us because this fosters growth around the school counselors' beliefs.

The Ethical Standards and guidelines will shape my work with students and other stakeholders by providing the principles of ethical behavior necessary to maintain the higher standards for school counselors, such as integrity, professionalism, and leadership. These components are what a school counselor needs to work with students of all levels, parents, and stakeholders. The ethical standards will also help with decision-making and keep school counselors on the path of maintaining professional practices (ASCA 2021).

The students will be taught how to control their own time. We do what comes naturally. This session will encourage them to want to be on time for class and learn that following the rules has benefits. It will also help them gain a sense of belonging and see how their mindset is reflective of the school, and the schools and other students are a reflection of them. (Lead by example). It has to start somewhere, why not with you? I would have also included M4. Understanding that postsecondary education and life-long learning are necessary for long-term career success. 9th graders must realize that high school is the last station before the real world happens, and they must be ready.
