         <description><![CDATA[<div>Chess was founded in north part of India. It started to spread quickly throughout Europe in places like, Persia, Arab, Spain, and other places as well. But the game we played was changed in the 15th century in Europe. The first world chess championship was held in 1886. Slowly Chess started to spread throughout the world not just in Europe but in Africa, Asia, south america, north america, and Australasia. The first international chess championship was held in 1851 and the first unofficial grand master in chess was Adolf Anderssen. The first top-ranked American-born chess player was Paul Morphy. &nbsp; Recently, however, Magnus Carlsen of Norway has won the F.I.D.E. championship and is seen by most as the world's chess champ.</div><div><br></div>]]></description>

He did not receive any awards, but was recognized as the world's best chess player unofficially.<br><br>- The chess board contains of 16 chess pieces. Each player has 8 pieces on their side of the board.<br><br>Overall, many championships were held and chess eventually became a pretty popular game.</div>]]></description>

White queen on white square, black queen on black square. King is beside the queen. Pawns placed in square in front of other pieces.<br>-&nbsp; Object of game - Trap opponent's king, so it's escape isn't possible (checkmate)<br>- Kings move one square, horizontally, vertically, or diagonally. Rook moves horizontally or vertically, any number of empty squares. Bishop moves diagonal direction<br>- Queen moves in any direction, knight moves to nearest square diagonally. Pawns move straight. </div>]]></description>
