I looked at the California Symphony and the Austin Symphony for this response. I noticed that the California Symphony occasionally performs newly written music, but the Austin Symphony never does. So, original music is definitely missing overall. The California Symphony innovates music by performing original pieces, typically with a certain theme for the concert. The Austin Symphony innovates by performing more popular music, such as film scores with the film playing simultaneously. I know that I really adore film scores, so I'd like to see more of that from the California Symphony, and I think it would be cool if the Austin Symphony did more original pieces. I definitely see myself in the music being performed. One of the California Symphony's original performances has to do with dreams, while the Austin Symphony has me with their Jurassic Park performance.
