Students can access their own account and read/listen to books within their level, talke quizzes, and build their reading levels up the more they read. Teachers can monitor and see student progress through their teacher portal.
Seesaw- is an online website and app that is a journal/portfolio of student work. All student work from pictures, pdfs, artwork, voice recordings, and videos can be uploaded to the online classroom journal for students and their families to see. It's very safe because nothing can be uploaded without the teacher approval and parents will only see their child's work in the feed. Teachers can also add skills that students are working on and show their progress towards mastering those skills on the online portfolio.
Educreations- is a free online website and app that makes a teacher iPad into a recordable whiteboard. Students can then access all of this from their device anywhere and use it to complete assignments, homework, or study for tests. There are also public Educreation lessons that teachers can use as resources or students can use to help them.

Technology word cloud image, n.d.
Teacher-Centered vs. Student-Centered

Raz-Kids- Students are using this to improve and build their reading and listening skills. Teachers use this to monitor student progress in building reading comprehension and accuracy skills. It is mainly student-centered because the students are self-pacing themselves through the different reading levels and books on their own portal. A teacher may require students to read a certain number of books or use the website at home but it's ultimately up to the students to advance themselves through by reading/listening to books and then taking the quizzes.
Seesaw-Students use this to showcase their work online and share it with their families. Teachers use this to help stay connected to families and show them what their child is learning about so that they can feel included in their child's learning. It is definitely student-centered because it's the students who are uploading and adding to their online portfolio. The teacher is merely facilitating the learning opportunity by approving posts and making it available to both the classroom students and their adults at home.
Educreations-Students use this to help them learn from anywhere and any device. They can review information that they learned in class, complete a homework assignment, and/or study for an exam or quiz all from their own device. Students can access the website if they do not have an iPad. Teachers use this to create instructional videos/tutorials and screencasts of information they want to reinforce or have available for their students. It is definitely a teacher-centered tech tool because it's the teacher who is creating and recording the online lessons on the digital whiteboard. Students can access them and use them but if the teacher wants students to review information, complete an assignment, or study they must have lessons/pictures/videos etc. to access. Students can definitely engage and learn using this app but they are not driving the learning it's the teacher who is driving it and the students who are benefiting from it

Teacher centered and student centered image, 2017.
Supporting Student Learning

Raz-Kids-This supported student learning because the goal of the lesson was to work on reading skills. As a technology it takes it to the next level because students are able to do this on the computer and they can choose from a vast amount of interesting book subjects. The learning objective is to read and this website makes it fun and interactive for students. It helps teachers to monitor progress without having to always be one-on-one in reading groups with students.
Seesaw-
This supports student learning because it teaches them to take pride in their work and to share it with others. They are in charge of making sure the work they upload is the best it can be and they are completing the learning objective by sharing an assignment or group project with their loved ones at home. Teachers can really help students show what they know with this app and it makes learning fun and more interactive. Connecting home and school is made easier by this app.
Educreations-This supports student learning because it makes school accessible from anywhere and lessons more engaging. Teachers do not have to be "online" asynchronously to answer homework questions because students can literally re-watch lessons on the app and go over information that they may not have gotten fully in class. Students achieve the learning objective by creating their own for assignments to teach others and get more out of their school day by being able to extend it when they get home. It's also perfect for students who may not have an iPad of their own because they can access the lessons on the website on any computer. If for some reason they still do not understand what their teacher means in the lesson they can search for others in the public domain on the website and learn from other teachers and students alike.

Student support image, 2017.

CK- Educreations can be used with all content areas but for this presentation I'll focus on Mathematics. Students will be learning place value (ones, tens, and hundreds) using Math manipulatives.
PK- Share thoughts and examples through Educreations tutorials and lessons. Students reflect on what they have learned about place value.
TK- Laptop, website, iPad, App, Screencasting, Educreations.
PCK- Using Educreations and class time will allow students to be engaged in the lesson and communicate with their peers. The Educreations online lessons will keep the students connected to the teacher as well.
TCK- Using the Educreations online screencast interactive tutorials allows students to practice a home with their own place value manipulatives.
By extending the lesson beyond the classroom students have a lot of resources at their fingertips to review and practice example problems. Students can also create their own examples on Educreations for the teacher to assess their knowledge and their progress of learning place value.
TPK-Using an online resource allows students a lot of freedom and digital literacy skill building. They can post and respond to their peers and the teacher helping them to feel more connected outside the classroom. They have more ways to access the information and it is highly engaging because its visual, concrete, and auditory learning. It's an easy to use website/app that is very appropriate for the Elementary age group.
TPACK- This lesson will reach all levels of learners because there's no one way to do it. Students can watch the videos as many times as they want until they understand or they can come back to class and work with the teacher if they are still struggling. Place value is a very visual skill and using Educreations tutorials is an excellent way to visually reinforce and teach this skill to students.

TPACK image, 2017.

Technology in the Elementary classroom is becoming more and more expected. Students crave more engaging and interactive lessons because they are digital natives. Using SmartBoards is commonplace in the classroom and students use laptops daily. My research has really opened my eyes to what else is out there tech tool wise that I as a teacher can use in my classroom to make learning fun and engaging for my students. Technology helps to bridge that gap between school and home and can make connections between parents and teachers without broaching privacy. Students truly can extend their learning when they are at home by taking their lessons with them and practicing skills without needing assistance from their teacher. I loved reading all about the free apps that are helpful for teachers and their students. Much of my research worried be when it came to cost because price is always an issue but there are so many FREE ways to incorporate technology into a lesson. The TPACK model reminded me though that we must start with content and pedagogy and add in technology because technology is just the icing on top of a great lesson it should not be what the lesson is focused on.
In our classroom discussions we have gone back and forth on whether technology in the classroom is a hindrance or if its helpful. I really believe that it is helpful when used correctly. Everything is good in moderation and that saying also applies to technology. As future educators we must always remember to teach to our students. This course has taught me that we cannot become complacent in our teaching because our learners are constantly changing and we must do the same. Technology has come so far from what it used to be and it's only growing. It makes me very excited to become a teacher because I have so many resources at my disposal to make my students love learning.
