In January of 2010, the trial for Kari Baker started. The medical testimony said that it was impossible to state a cause of death, but then they looked at the computer evidence. Which he had searched the effects of sleeping aids. These aids were found in his wife at the time of her death. This led them to calling up Linda Dulin who told the Jury about some crushed pills Kari had found in Matt's bag a few days before her death. Then Vannesa Bulls came into question. Vannesa tried to lie her way through questioning. But that eventually came to a end, when she admitted that her and Matt had an affair. As a end result, Matt was handed a 65 year prison sentence.

Digital forensics has changed for the better over the past 30 years. It has helped solve many crimes that wouldn't have ever been solved without it. Which shows that its not an invaluable resource. Its very valuable, by showing what happens on the electronic side of a case. Without it, we would have a lot of cases unsolved. Cases such as the Matt Baker case, would have never been solved if it wasn't for using digital forensics.
