         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong><em>Athens</em></strong><strong> </strong>economy depended on trade. Athens traded with nearby city-states and foreign lands. They traded with coins made of gold, silver, and bronze. Athens traded at the Agora, almost like a Greek farmers market.<br><br><strong><em>Sparta</em></strong> economy based on farming. Sparta didn't have enough land so they took land from their near by neighbors. Sparta conquered villages to get more slaves called helots. Sparta used big iron bars instead of coins because of thiefs.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong><em>Athens</em></strong> Education was a&nbsp; good citizens was a part of education. Book learning was really great part of education Teachers taught reading, writing, arithmetic, and literature.</div><div><br><strong><em>Sparta</em></strong> Education in Sparta was different than Athens because the purposes of education was to produce capable men and women who could protect and fight for Sparta. At the age of 7, boys started to get trained to be in the military.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong><em>Athens</em></strong> became a democracy around 500 B.C.E. But unlike modern democracies, Athens allowed only free men to be citizens. All Athenian-born men over the age of 18 were considered Athenian citizens. Also, in Athens Woman and slaves were considered citizen's.<br><br><strong><em>Sparta </em></strong><em>was an oligarchy, An oligarchy is only a few people are the rulers.</em>Like Athens, Sparta had an Assembly. But the important decisions were actually made by a much smaller group called the Council of Elders. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong><em>Athens </em></strong>Only men were considered citizens in Athens because citizenship was not possible for women and slaves so they had fewer rights than men. <br><br><strong><em>Sparta </em></strong>In Sparta they treated their slaves harsh because they were scared that they would rise. Also , the woman in Sparta had more rights than woman in Athens did.</div>]]></description>
