2.  This section was an introduction to the issues of the book and statistics to support it.  From a historical context, the author presents the following question in the first chapter - Is there a need for separate school?   Its not a book about despair but one about keeping dreams alive.
3.  It will give us a better understanding for seeing color and race and allow us to support teachers to be more empathetic to their individual needs.
