Intro: Hello. My name is Millie.

What is the name of the book? The book I’m going to be talking about is the the Primrose Railway Children.

Who is it by? The author of this amazing book is Jacqueline Wilson. She is actually one of my favourite authors and in this book she really drops hints here and there about one of the characters.

What is the genre? The genre is adventure fiction. An adventure fiction is something exciting and extraordinary; often a quest or a mission. I found that on BBC Bitesize.

Why did I enjoy the book? I enjoyed the book because I love all the personalities of all the characters and their different needs. Also, I enjoyed the sense of mystery throughout the book. Jacqueline Wilson also included so much emotion and it continued to change.

Who is my favourite character? My favourite character is the main character. Her name is Phoebe and I like her because she has a creative imagination and lifesaving ideas.

I think the age range would be 9 and above because of the deep emotion, but it is a happy ending.

Would I recommend this book to others? Definitely! I would recommend this book because of the immense excitement I felt and it was unputdownable!

Was the book similar to any other books I’ve read? The setting and problem in this book were different to what authors usually pick. The only book I know that is similar to this is the Railway Children.

Finally: Please read this magical book and find out the secrets of Phoebe’s life. Also, there is a movie on BBC iPlayer of The Primrose Railway children, which I really recommend watching.

The name of my book is The Hobbit written by JRR Tolkien. It is a fantasy / adventure story and I liked it because there were twists and turns as you follow their epic journey, it is also a story about how someone has to be the first. My favourite character is Gandalf the wizard as he always has something up his sleeve surprising everyone in the process. I recommend it to others because it is a thrilling story and you can explore betrayal and the way greed can take over you making even a good person hungry for more .It is similar to then Narnia the lion the witch and the wardrobe as the landscape is described as lush with dark things lurking round the corner.

I enjoyed this book so much that it made me go on to read other Murder Books (That are not scary at all!) The time period is set in the mid-nineteenth century and the setting is at a school. It started at the beginning of the book when Hazel( One of the characters.) finds Mrs Bell ( The victim.) lying in the gym. Who killed her? When? Why? How? So many questions revolve around the story in the book and it all resolves in an amazing end! I would recommend this book to everyone. If you enjoy this book, there are a lot more books in the series for more enjoyment. This book is perfect for anyone who likes adventure genres and thrillers.

Ben Miller, the author of The Night I Met Father Christmas has written an engaging book, which is extremely interesting and fun to read. It belongs to the festive fiction (a Christmas story) genre. It can also be classified as classic literature.

The book is about a young boy, Jackson, who stays up on the night of Christmas Eve to meet Father Christmas. That night, Jackson accompanies Father Christmas, as they travel across the world delivering gifts to all the obedient children. Then, Father Christmas goes on to tell Jackson the story of how he became Father Christmas.

I enjoyed the book because of the wonderful story that Father Christmas narrated. I really appreciated the descriptive vocabulary and could easily imagine the pictures in my head. The intricate and detailed illustrations scattered through the pages of this lovely book, helped create more ideas for me to understand the story better.

My favourite character is Torvil because by the end of the story he feels bad for someone and is brimming with guilt because of a horrid thing that he did. Then, he does a kind gesture and has a complete change of heart. Eventually, he becomes one of the kindest people known to humans.

I would recommend this book to others, especially if they enjoy a Christmas adventure story. The language is not too hard to understand. I think people aged 8 and above would like reading this story. This book would appeal to a child and has the potential to impress an adult as well.

I don’t think this book is like any other book I have read. I like it a lot and I think it is one of a kind.

Did You Know: Ben Miller is an actor in Paddington 2. He plays the character of one of Paddington's neighbours.

The book that I'm going to describe is called A Boy called Hope by Lara Williamson. The genre of this book is humour. I have enjoyed this book a lot because of how determined Dan is to find his biological father when he left him, his sister and his mother. Unfortunately, his dad refused to come back but Dan's mother found Big Dave who would be Dan's father and Grace's father(Grace is Dan's sister). Dan finally forgets about his biological father, but he knows that he will always love him no matter what. This book teaches determination, but also to just except things the way that it is. My favourite character is Grace because she always likes to snap back at people when they talk to her making her a funny character. I would definitely recommend this book to you. I have not come across any similar books to this yet.

This book is from the adventure genre and it follows the wild robot on a long, final experience to stop the poison tide.

The name of the book I read is Northern Lights by Philip Pullman. This is a fiction fantasy and the first of the His Dark Materials trilogy. The book consists of many characters such as: Lord Asriel and Iorek Byrnison.

The series, including this book, is about an orphan named Lyra Silvertongue, living in Jordon College. In this fantasy world, each human has their own daemon which is a shapeshifting animal that is part of the human’s soul. She finds out that children are disappearing due to macabre experiments to separate the human and their daemon, and vows to rescue them. In this first installment, she meets various allies who help her get to the North, which is the place where the kids are being held. She also meets a lady called Mrs. Coulter, who is her mum. Lord Asriel: her uncle, gifts her an alethiometer: a truth-telling device. This book ends with an incredibly intriguing cliff-hanger, which will probably make you want to read the next book in this series, straight after.

I enjoyed it because it took me away to an imaginary world where lots of magical things could happen. It also made me wish for my own daemon.

My favorite character is Pantalaimon: Lyra’s daemon because the book portrayed how wise and helpful he was.

I would recommend this book to kids aged 8 to 11, as it is a page-turner.

This book seems similar to the Percy Jackson series, as they are both rich in imagination and they both showcase – friendship, team-work and the power of it.

This book is about a boy called Billy Chan went to a summer camp in the mountains of China but he does not know what to expect. The camp he went to is called Camp Dragon . When he arrived he and his fellow campmates stumble across upon the entrance to a secret mountain, and they found four real life warrior dragons trapped inside. The dragons are fearsome, clever and dangerous. My favourite character is Dylan because he is a very nervous, anxious and scared person but he manages to overcome his fears and go on adventures with his friends. This the first book in the series and I hope to complete the whole set.

The Longest Whale Song is by Jacqueline Wilson and the genre is fiction - realism. This means the events are made for the book up, but can happen in real life. I really enjoyed this book because I learnt from it about illnesses that could happen, and it had a happy ending. My favourite character is Ella because she kept thinking happy things and never gave up on her mum getting better. I recommend this book to 7-12 year olds because it is very interesting and exciting to read.

Orson (The Voyage of the Dawn Treader by C. S. Lewis)

This lovely, adventurous book is the 5th book in the Narnia series. I enjoyed it because it is a very well-written story which is about when Edmund and Lucy (2 of the 4 Pevensie children from the other books in the Narnia series), and their cousin, Eustace Clarence, were teleported through a painting into the magical land of Narnia. When they fell into the painting, they landed on the ship drawn in the painting, the Dawn Treader, where they met King Caspian (from the book Prince Caspian), Lord Drinian, Rynelf and personally my favourite character, Reepicheep (a valiant mouse).

In this book, these characters and several dozen sailors, explore different islands. Firstly, they visited the Lone Islands, where they met a few slave merchants who captured them to sell them to people. Caspian was sold to one of the seven lords he went to look for on this journey, Lord Bern. Lord Bern and Caspian went on to find the others and made the controlling ruler, Gumpus, think that they were coming with a huge army and Caspian tricked him into giving up his land to Lord Bern.

The next island was my favourite island and was called Dragon Island, named by them. On that island, Eustace transformed into a dragon by lying in a dragon's cave. Later on, Aslan changed him back to a human by taking off his layers of dragon skin.

Next was an island which Reepicheep named Deathwater. Here there was a pond, which if you went into you would turn gold. The fourth island had invisible people who, long ago, were cursed with being one legged creatures. They thought they looked ugly so they put a spell on themselves to be made invisible. Now they want to be seen again and needed a little girl (in this case Lucy) to read a spell out from a magic book to make them visible again. Lucy did what they asked and then moved on to the penultimate island, the Dream Island, where they found a Sea Serpent and one of the lords. That lord helped them battle the Sea Serpent to get to the final island, where they encountered 3 of the lords sleeping in an enchanted sleep, a girl and her father named Ramandu, who was a retired star.

The father told Caspian to leave one of their crew at the end of the world, never to come back. This was to be done in order to awake the 3 lords from their enchanted slumber. Reepicheep volunteered for this task. Whilst they were on the journey, Caspian exclaimed he wanted to come to the end of the world with Reepicheep, but didn't go in the end. When they came back Aslan made Lucy, Edmund and Eustace a magical door to our world and Caspian married the daughter of Ramandu.

If you like adventurous books then this is the book for you! Even if you don't like these types of books I would still recommend it as a great book to read. Like I said, Reepicheep is my favourite character. This is because he is a kind and cosy creature.

The Voyage of the Dawn Treader is a lot like the book Prince Caspian, the 4th book in the Narnia series, and a tiny bit like the book The Last Bear by Hannah Gold. This is because they are both quite venturesome books. I would give it a 4.8 out of a 5 star rating.

It also teaches the reader that money doesn’t buy happiness, friends or family. There are many different characters in the story and each one has a unique personality, some are funny and others were mean! I really liked chapter three which is called, “Who’s the fattiest?“ because it is an important point of the story where Bob and Joe meet each other.

Who is your favourite character and why?

My favourite character is Joe Spud, he is a very kind boy who likes helping people. In the story one of the kind things he did was to help Mrs Trafe fix her damaged hip. Joe gave Mrs Trafe five thousand pounds just to fix her hip because she wasn’t walking properly but she spent it on her body and not her hip. Joe felt really sad because Mrs Trafe let him down by spending the money carelessly.

Would you recommend it to others?

I’d really recommend this book to others because the story grips you from the start and it also has fun parts. Aside from that it teaches you that money isn’t everything and to be kind.

Is it similar to any other book you’ve read?

No, it is the first time I have read a book like this, I really enjoyed it! It has pushed me another

David Walliams and I am currently half way through reading “Code Name Bananas” which is really funny.

I borrowed this book from my cousin and I think it is ranked as one of my top five favourite books . It is about a boy called Nicholas who goes to London to work for the Bishop in a few chapters into the story the bishop is poisoned. The suspects are Lady Anne Boleyn, Harry Price and Rick Roose. Nicholas and his friend Meg are investigating who the poisoner could be, because Meg thought the wrong person was put for treason. As an extra the blurb is given down below.

Blurb :

"Poison !" one of the priests called in panic, his cry echoing down the hall from the dining room. "The bishop's food has been poisoned !"

When Nicholas arrives at Bishop Fisher's home, alone and desperate for work, he is first mistaken for a spy. Given a job as a kitchen boy, he soon realises that secrets, threats and intrigue swirl around the bishops house.

After a dish of pottage is poisoned, one of the bishop's staff is taken to the tower of London and awaits a dreadful punishment.

Worried that the wrong man is being accused, Nicholas and his friend Meg set about investigating the matter themselves. Will they solve the mystery of the Tudor poison plot before it's to late?

I enjoyed reading this story because after reading a few chapters, it you are consumed into the story and I felt that if I closed my eyes I'd feel like I was there in the moment as it happened.

They have very cool names! I enjoyed it because it is a story of finding your way through a new place even though you have never set foot outside your home! My favourite character is Varjak because he achieves many things throughout the book and manages it alone without any comfort of safety for a very long time! I would recommend it to anyone who likes martial arts and is years 4 and above(Only because it might be too scary but if you would like to read it then you can!) It is very similar to Cogheart which is by Peter Bunzl because of the way the storylines match eachother! I hope you enjoy this book as much as I have!!

The Nothing To See Here Hotel written by Steven Butler is about a boy named Frankie Banister [one 32th troll] whose parents own a hotel full of inhuman creatures. When he has to deliver lunch to his grandma [who is full troll] she sees a goblin delivering a letter , she opens the door to see the goblin make a crash landing. the goblin sends the message "the goblin Queen would like to send her son to the hotel but if her son doesn't like it she will come and kill them."The hotel staff prepared the place doing it like headless chickens. When the goblin prince arrived he started demanding stuff that wasn't prepared he started fainting but his servants weren't surprised [because he does that a lot]. Then he makes even and more ruckus[wanting to claim the sea, the hotel and more], but only a few days after the prince has stayed they realised that the prince had been stealing from them.

I would recommend this book because it has a twist out of nowhere to surprise the reader. The genre of this book is fantasy. It is not similar to any book I have read and my favorite character is the prince goblin because I love the character who makes the twist.

Christopher Edge is an award-winning children’s author whose books have been translated into more than 20 languages. His book 'Escape Room', is a suspense-filled narrative with Ami and 4 other children, who arrive at the Escape Room. She thinks it is just a game- an escape room with difficult puzzles and challenges to beat before the time runs out. But when the Host locks Ami and her teammates in the first room, she quickly realises that it is no ordinary game but something more sinister involved.

I liked the book and how it relatable and almost like a real-life scenarios where the teenagers have to use their brains instead of having the answer given to them and how everyone has to work as a team to figure it out. The best part for me was the plot-twist ending because it was very surprising and I certainly didn’t expect it.

I would certainly recommend this book to children aged 9-15 years-old who love going to Escape Rooms and mystery-themed books. 'Escape Room' is a brilliant read, providing a mix of friendship, history, detective thinking, and deception...

The Return of the King is a fantasy novel written by J. R. R. Tolkien. The story follows the final battle between the forces of good and evil fighting for control of Middle-earth. The heroes of the story are Aragon( He was a Ranger of the North, first heard of by the company with the name Strider and later revealed to be the heir of Isildur, an ancient King of Arnor and Gondor. Aragorn is a descendant of the rulers of Gondor and Arnor, and is considered the lost heir of Gondor.), Frodo( Frodo is a hobbit of the Shire who inherits the One Ring from his cousin Bilbo Baggins, described familiarly as "uncle", as he is very old compared to Frodo and undertakes the quest to destroy it in Mount Doom in Mordor. Frodo is repeatedly injured during the quest and becomes increasingly burdened by the Ring as it nears Mordor. He changes too, growing in understanding and tries to avoiding violence. On his return to the Shire, he is unable to settle back into ordinary life; two years after the Ring's destruction, he is allowed to take ship to the earthly paradise of Valinor.) ,Gandalf ( He is a wizard, one of the Istari order, and the leader of the Company of the Ring. As a wizard and the bearer of one of the Three Rings, Gandalf has great power, but works mostly by encouraging and persuading. He sets out as Gandalf the Grey, possessing great knowledge and travelling continually. Gandalf is focused on the mission to counter the Dark Lord Sauron by destroying the One Ring. He appears to three of the Fellowship and helps to counter the enemy in Rohan, then in Gondor, and finally at the Black Gate of Mordor, in each case largely by offering guidance. When victory is complete, he crowns Aragorn as King before leaving Middle-earth for ever to return to Valinor.) and Sam (A hobbit, Sam is the chief supporting character of The Lord of the Rings, serving as the loyal companion of Frodo Baggins. Sam is a member of the Company of the Ring, the group of nine charged with destroying the One Ring to prevent the Dark Lord Sauron from taking over the world. Sam was Frodo's gardener. He was drawn into Frodo's adventure while eavesdropping on a private conversation Frodo was having with the wizard Gandalf. Sam was Frodo's steadfast companion and servant, portrayed as both physically strong for his size and emotionally strong, often supporting Frodo through difficult parts of the journey and, at times, carrying Frodo when he was too weak to go on. Following the War of the Ring, Sam returned to the Shire and his role as a gardener, helping to replant the trees which had been destroyed while he was away. He was elected Mayor of the Shire.) the story follows these people and a few others through the battle between good and evil but will they prevail read to find out. I think this is a engaging fantasy novel aimed at people aged 10+. I loved the novel as it kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time .

The author for this amazing book is Rick Riordan. Also Rick Riordan is a clever author because at the end of the story I thought I knew who stole the lightning but I was wrong. Rick Riordan picks his words carefully.

What is the genre? The genre for this book is fantasy, adventure and Greek mythology.

Why did I enjoy the book? I loved the book because it is so detailed and interesting. Also the book talks about all the Greek gods and it makes you think, which one am I like?

Who is my favourite character? Well, there were loads of characters in the book but I like two in particular. It is the main character Percy Jackson, because he overcomes obstacles in his way and he can be funny. My second favourite character is Annabeth: Her mother is Athena the god of wisdom. Annabeth assists Percy in his quests and missions.

Would I recommend this book to others? Totally, if you like Greek mythology or even if you like a bit of fantasy, you’ll love this book. It has got a variety of characters and creatures. Enjoy as Percy Jackson takes you on the story of his life and you’ll discover that being the child of a Greek God isn’t always great.

Is the book similar to any other book I’ve read? I also loved this book as it still kept aspects hidden from you until the very end which make you wonder what will happen to the characters or will they survive.

Who was your favorite character and why: My favorite character was probably Audrey since she was quiet and didn't show her power until the time her sister really needed her help which tells me that you can't judge someone from where they come from (the bakery in this instance) or how they act at first (shy, quiet and weak) you can tell who they are from when you really get to know them.

Would I recommend this book to others: Yes, I would definitely recommend this book to you as it isn't just interesting it is also urges you to read on as if it is alive which is a great experience.

Is this book similar to any other books that I have read: Yes, it is like the cursed unicorn, also by Alice Hemming, but with a different story which makes it similar to this book.

Blurb:

If you thought that you have heard every fairy taale then thing again...

In a far away kingdom, two girls live separate lives.

The book am reviewing is Wonder. It's funny while also using a serious topic. It is about a boy called August who has a bad facial disorder. Lots of funny moments like everything going on and a good message saying everyone is different. It also states to never judge a book by it's cover just like this book with a weird cover. My favorite character is Jack Will because he is kind and everyone calls him by his first and surname unlike all of the other characters. I rated it 9/10. I recommend it to a 9 to 12 year old. It is a must read and needs a sequel.

The name of the book I am going to tell you about is Billionaire boy and it is written by the author David Walliams. I think the genre of this book is humour. I enjoyed this book as Joe is a child, but he is so rich that he has basically everything one could want in life. However the main reason why I liked this book was because at the end of the story Joe and his dad have no money and are now poor. My favourite character is Joe as his character represents a really funny person. As he is quite heavy, in cross country for his school he pays another heavy person to come last so he doesn't get laughed at by other kids. I would highly recommend this book to you as it is really funny and entertaining. I have not yet come across a book like this before.

R.J.Palacio’s Julian is a stupendous book to read. Although this is an incredible book, I suggest that you read Wonder first. Wonder is about a boy named Auggie who has a face deformation. Nobody’s nice to him because of his eccentric and outlandish face. Especially a kid named Julian. As you can tell by the name, Julian is about how Julian was feeling when Auggie came to Beecher Prep. [The school that they both go to.]

Julian was quite a popular boy then, but when Auggie came to the school, nobody liked him. The reason is that Julian bullied Auggie a lot and that Auggie and a few other kids faced off and fought with some seventh graders. Julian listens to a story his fashionable grandmother told him about how she was not friendly to a child deformed on the legs.

That child saved her from the Nazis and took her into his house.

She could not express the huge quantity of gratitude to him as the Nazis took him and killed him. Julian changes his horrible attitude and writes an apology letter to Auggie. Julian and Wonder are both phenomenal books and I hope you read them too.

Amari and the Night Brothers is a book by B.B Alston, and is a mystery/adventure book. My favourite character is Amari because she is determined to find out who Muearu is. I really enjoyed this book and found the ending very surprising!!

My favourite part of the book is when Amari and all her class mates gain their badges. There are many badges to collect and they get cardboard, next plastic, then wood, followed by glass, stone, copper, iron, bronze silver, gold and the rarest badge which is moonstone!

I would definitely recommend this book to any children aged 8+, who like mystery book and LOVE surprises!

Book Review by Praneel

The book is called The Butterfly Lion by Michael Murpurgo. It is an adventure story about a friendship between a boy called Bertie and a cute lion cub 🦁 Bertie used to live with his parents in Africa and one day he found a rare lion cub that was white from the African veld. Their relationship was very strong 💪 as they were always together and no one could separate them. However there was a sad 😢 point in the story when the lion got taken away to a circus 🤡 in France and Bertie was sent to a boarding school in England. At the time 🕰️ they got separated , Bertie promised that where ever they went , they would find each other. Bertie grew up and after many years he finally reunited with the white lion and was able to spend some time together. I want my friends to read the story because they can 👌 find out how a lion cub came to be known as The Butterfly Lion.
