Humanistic therapy focuses on connecting the body to your mind and spirit. Mindfulness is the main focus of this type of therapy. This type of therapy costs about $130 per hour. This may be covered by insurance, but for rotator cuff tears, it is unlikely to be covered. This is unlikely to be covered because humanistic therapy is considered to be a vague subject. If the subject chooses not to part take in humanistic therapy because of the cost, they may have mild effects such as less confidence and mental connection to their body.

Many people who experience muscle injuries, particularly athletes, may develop depression and anxiety during or after their recovery. Cognitive-behavioral therapy is a commonly employed method to address these issues.

It is recommended to do certain exercises that target the shoulder to prevent a rotator cuff tear. This can be organized in a specific program to target certain muscles. Studies have shown that performing open chain kinetic exercises improved the torque output of the rotator cuff more than closed chain movements. Focusing on open chain movements, could prevent a rotator cuff tear because they are highly effective in strengthening the rotator cuff. Challenges that may occur include not having enough time or not knowing how to properly execute the exercises.

Studies show following a specific and tailored program can be effective in preventing injury. For example FIFA has a warm-up program for their goalkeepers. When this program was applied to other athletes it showed an increase in shoulder stability which is crucial to preventing injury. Challenges may arise when warming up for a variety of reasons. Improper access to equipment, or lack of knowledge of how to warm up can steer people away from warming up.

Virtual reality rehabilitation is one technique that can help treat a rotator cuff tear. Virtual reality rehabilitation offers courses that engage the patients in the rehabilitation process to keep them motivated to treat their rotator cuff tear. This increases recovery rates and reduces the risk of the rotator cuff tearing again. The risk is reduced because the muscle is strengthened by rehabilitation. Patients with rotator cuff tears were treated conservatively at 63.6% in the text attached. Challenges faced while trying to incorporate virtual reality rehabilitation could include patients needing to be under supervision while performing this technique because the technique is not highly studied yet.
