This quote tells us that the teachers are bad leaders, but then they're not. They never step in to help the boys do the right thing. But then they could also want the boys to solve the problem, like men instead of little boys. Because soon they'll have to solve it themselves.

This quote tells us Ender doesn't really need his hook to be a good commander. Explanation: This quote shows that Rose the Nose doesn't give a crap what his soldiers do as long as the listen to him and aren't wimps. this isn't the best kind of leadership; you don't want to be to lenient but you also don't want to be harsh. His soldiers were good but they weren't good at basic math apparently and that is big part in many situations. And since rose never cares his soldiers will get hurt more:when Ender and the other kids were trying to fight Ender and he fought back and ripped one of their ears off, because he doesn't report them he just lets them do whatever.

explanation: Bonzo is extremely harsh towards his students and doesn't let them do anything or really have any free time. he especially hates Ender and plans to trade him as soon as possible. Bonzo doesn't give ender a chance because he thought he wouldn't be of any use to their army because of his height. He is too strict and wont lay off of anyone its always do this now, do it right. never you'll get it next time or its fine just try again.

In this chapter Graff said to Ender he's not here to make friends and he tells Ender that he's not his friend, but after Ender leaves he tells Anderson that he is his friend. Graff didn't want Ender getting soft by having friends because they cant afford Ender having emotions for anyone.

Ender is afraid he's turning into Bonzo and Peter. Bonzo pushed him around and hated him, Peter tortured him and wanted to kill him. Ender is somewhat like Peter but a lot like Valentine. Ender doesn't want to be like Peter or Bonzo, they're cruel and Ender knows it.
