I really enjoyed the realism in this story. The author managed to make a realistic story, while still maintaining an interesting plot line, and a highly realistic gang setting with realistic characters and emotions. On top of that, the progression of the story really seems to hook the reader, getting them attached to the story and characters. I mean, if you didn't cry while reading this at least once, you're either super tough emotionally, or you just didn't understand the book.
