         <description><![CDATA[<div>Martin Luther King Jr. wrote his Letter to Birmingham to explain to his fellow clergymen his reason for being in Birmingham, AL. He wrote the letter while he was jailed for public protest.  He wanted to stress that his brothers and sisters in the black community were being oppressed and that the protest was the last resort in a long series of attempts to fix things.</div><div><br><br></div>]]></description>
