Hispanic and Latino are very different terms, though a lot of people mix them up. Hispanic people are people who descended from Spanish speaking populations. Latino, Latina, Or Latinx just refers to someone who is of Latin descent alone.

Back in the day, a lot of Latino and Hispanic people weren't as seen as they are today. The races completely focused on were White and Black, so important history that many know nothing about has flown under the radar.

Latinx was made and used to include people under the transgender and nonbinary umbrella to help them feel included and progress the Latin community.

According to the video, 'The Difference between Hispanic, Latino, and Latinx', "Latinx is made to ask questions, its made to stop people, to shock them. To include people who may not identify with Latino or Latina. To be all inclusive."

They orchestrated large labor actions, including a massive strike. “The farmworkers couldn’t win by themselves,” Huerta said recently. “They had to reach out to the American public, and all of the 17 million Americans that decided not to eat grapes or lettuce and Gallo wine.

Something I learned is that many Latinos didn't like the term Hispanic because it was a name that you would call people from Spanish speaking countries. They wanted a term that moved away from Spain's colonization so they created the term Latino or Latina. Since those terms included specific genders, non-binary people wanted a word that could describe them too. From that, the word Latinx was born to include all people from Latin America regardless of gender.

Latinx refers to non binary people but it could also refer to big groups of people. Latine could also refers to non binary people or big groups. I'm Latina and I personally think that Latinx and Latine are stupid because its changing the history of being Hispanic. I think that we should just stick to Latina and Latino, it makes it a lot less confusing for non Spanish speakers. I do want to be inclusive but I think I don't think that Latinx or Latine makes sense. cade thinks its confusing because he's not a fluent Spanish speaker, he also thinks we should keep it and just Latino and Latina

In the article " Civil rights icon Huerta has advice for a new generation of activists " I learned that Dolores Huerta is a woman activist who fought for the rights of agricultural workers and to improve the educational system. She helped found the “United Farm Workers” union. She thought it was an injustice to see how immigrant workers offered hard work and in exchange received the minimum wage and zero respect. She organized strikes, boycotts and worked alongside Cesar Chavez. Something I would like to add about Cesar Chavez and Dolores Huerta is that Cesar Chavez was much more recognized than Dolores Huerta, he stole the credit of a famous quote that Huerta said and took it as his own and even to this day many people think that “yes, we can” or “si, se puede” was said by him.

In the article, "Civil rights icon Huerta has advice for a new generation of activists", I learned that just as her father who became a union leader and lawmaker in New Mexico, Dolores Huerta sought to make a difference too. And that was by fighting on behalf of those who couldn't for themselves.

Huerta helped create the United Farm Workers union during the civil rights era of the '50s and '60s to fight for the rights of farm workers, alongside civil rights activist Cesar Chavez. The immigrant workers had been worked so long under poor conditions, to pesticide exposure and terrible hand injuries for little pay, and even less respect. It was horrible times.

Huerta seen this and took initiative fighting for not just community betterment programs, and protective laws to creating a better life for Mexican-Americans, but also coordinated a nationwide consumer boycott of California grapes, lettuce and Gallo wines on behalf of UFW, because the workers of the companies weren't being treated well.

Huerta's done so much more for other underrepresented groups like collective actions such as strikes, social injustice initiatives and community organizing. She had even been apart of achieving California's landmark 1975 Agricultural Labor Relations Act, together with Cesar Chavez, which allowed farm workers to form unions and bargain for better wages and conditions. And all through non-violent actions!

She is a huge role model to all those seeking thoughtful change and teaching others violence and rage in your actions is not ever the answer. Instead channel it into actions and words the opposite of that and truly want to make an impact out of kindness and bravery for all.

This is personally what reading about her has taught me and I hope more stories of other colored people with different backgrounds is taught more throughout school and the world. I didn't even know who this lady was up until now.
