He really emphasizes he’s point of view by using a pun “wasting the main raw ingredient of life- time”. By saying this Wilson is meaning in both the way that this article is about a cooking show, hence the pun relating to ingredients and that people need to take action. Not only does this put him in a more humorous tone but it is also stated in a form where he is trying to come across concerned. Making the reader feel the depth of the situation and that what Wilson is saying is in fact true. Wilson also mentions that viewers of the reality shows are wasting “another 10 hours…(multiplied by 1.5 million [people])”. This use of statistics is a source of evidence that Wilson has imbedded to sound scientific and factual, this then goes on to cause the reader to feel like he has a well backed up opinion as he is well supported.

In addition, he also uses the metaphor, "You are wasting the main raw ingredient of life." The author compares the important things in life, such as family, work, and dreams, to the ingredients in life. Those people ignore them as they cook. The most important spices and raw materials.
