Scotland is such a great place to travel. The history there is amazing and their national animal is a unicorn! Honestly if that isn’t a good enough reason then I don’t know what is. The name Scotland is from the Latin word Scotia. In Scotland there were many Roman soldiers, noble clansmen, Vikings, powerful monarchs and lots of philosophers. I would travel there to know all about the history there.

The Northern Highlands is separated from the rest of the country by the “Great Glen”. This ancient fault line was used to make canals extending from the west to the east. This area is excellent for biking, hiking and other outside activities.

Scotland’s Castle Trail is home to 17 preserved, dramatic castle sites. Looking at all the castles can take 4 days or you can shove it into one. There are a lot of old war things you can see at different castle.

Now for food, here are 3 foods Scotland is famous for, starting with dessert! Dundee Cake has many forms. Since Scotland has a lot of alcohol, we’ll talk about Scottish Whisky Dundee Cake. There’s a lot of ingredients, the main one being the whisky. But in 2-2.5 hours, it’ll be worth it. Many people say that the cake is simply very yummy! Next meal is the actual meal, dinner. A traditional dish in Scotland is Haggis with ‘Tatties and Neeps’ (or potatoes and turnips). Haggis is made from the offal (or innards) of a sheep. Sounds gross but haggis is actually very good. The last meal shall be breakfast. Today is a Scottish Breakfast. Sounds simple right? Well a Scottish Breakfast has a lot of things. A Scottish Breakfast consists of bacon, eggs, square sausage, black pudding (a type of ‘blood sausage’), grilled or fried tomatoes, mushrooms, baked beans, and maybe potato scones. Not the type of breakfast you’ll have if you’re in a rush.

Now is the best time to go to Scotland, here’s why. If you’re going with your family, there is an animal handling area coming up and it’s free. Another event is Medieval Mayhem at a history museum and that is free as well. There are a lot of things to do in Scotland in the summer. Since Scotland is such a historical area, there are a lot of museums to go to. Some things you do outside are going sightseeing, biking on old routes and hiking old trails. Scotland is one of the biggest tourist areas.
