         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Dendrites:</strong> Receive messages from other cells <br><strong>Terminal branches of axon:</strong> form junctions with other cells <br><strong>Vessicle:</strong> <br><strong>axon:</strong> passes messages away from cell body to other neurons muscles, or glands <br><strong>Cell body:</strong> the cell's life- support center <br><strong>Neural impulse:</strong> action potential electrical signal traveling down the axon<br><strong>myelin shreath:</strong> covers the axon of some neurons and helps speed neural impulses <br><strong>Sending Neuron:</strong> The neuron which transmits a message to another neuron<br><strong>Synaptic Gap: </strong>space between the axon terminal of one neuron and the receptors of the next neuron<br><strong>Nucleus:</strong> A part of the cell containing DNA and RNA and responsible for growth and reproduction<br><strong>Action Potential:A neural impulse; a brief electrical charge that travels down an axon.</strong><br><strong>Neurotransmitters:</strong>Chemical messengers that cross the synaptic gaps between neurons. When released by the sending neuron, neurotransmitters travel across the synapse and bind to receptor sites on the receiving neuron, thereby influencing whether that neuron will generate a neural impulse<br><strong>Receptor sites:</strong> The areas at the end of dendrites on postsynaptic neurons that receive neurotransmitters to initiate cell firing.<br><strong>Receiving Neuron:</strong> Postsynaptic neuron. The neuron which obtains an electrochemical stimulation from another neuron.<br><strong>Terminal Button: </strong>The branched end of the axon that contains neurotransmitters.<strong><br></strong><br></div>]]></description>

(morphine mimics endorphins, stimulating mood and pain sensation)<br><strong>Antagonist molecule</strong>- fits into the receptor site but is not similar enough to stimulate it. Instead&nbsp; it BLOCKS or inhibits the function of the neurotransmitter receptor. <br><strong>The Chemical Mind</strong><br>-<strong>Everything psychological is biological </strong><br>-Neuron: building blocks that transport messages (think or dream)<br>-Cell body, Dendrites, Axon,&nbsp;<br>myelin sheath: increase speed of message<br>-neurotransmitters: messages sent across the synapse &nbsp;<br>inhibitory: chill neurons&nbsp;<br>Hormones: affect mood attraction, affection , appetite&nbsp;<br> <br><br></div>]]></description>
