I think using literature circle for primary students could cultivate young learner’s interest in English reading and speaking. The texts certainly have to be more complex and a different type of discussion can be derived from it. As long as the level of books and activities are appropriately challenging for the learner group’s abilities, it should work. I would also add extra tasks in the Literature Circle related to cognitive and critical thinking skills. (In fact literature classes often already incorporate similar activities)

When we did the literature circle exercise with Clarine, it generated so much discussion. More than she neede because she only wanted to demonstrate how we could conduct this activity for kids. I think this had a lot to do with the fact that we were older and perhaps felt like we had more to say.
