The narrator says, "'I'd like to touch you.' I said again."

This represents one of the theme of the story which is people can get lonely and sometimes desire to have a partner physically by your side. This quote represents this because the narrator wants to touch her in the dream they share. However, he is unable to feel, see, and touch her. The narrator has a desire to have her physically by his side since they been communicating in dreams for years, but couldn't see each other.

Marquez writes," I said, 'I'll recognize you when on the street I see a woman writing 'Eyes of a blue dog' on the walls.' And she, with a sad smile--which was already a smile of surrender to the impossible, the unreachable--said: 'Yet you won't remember anything during the day.'"

This quote represents another theme of the story which is reality is different from dreams. The quote represents this theme because they could easily meet in their dreams and be able to hear each other's voices. But in the real world, it might be impossible for the two to find each other nevertheless have both of them remember the dreams they share.

The woman says, "you're the only man who doesn't remember anything of what he's dreamed after he wakes up."

The quote sets the mood of the story which is solemn. Throughout the story, the mood was serious, grim, and earnest. In the story, the mood of the story allows me to be informed that they were in a dream and I get to know that it's almost impossible that they will meet in real life. It's earnest about the situation the two characters in and the low possibility they will meet in real life. It's sad knowing that they will never meet in real world, but the narrator is still hopeful that they will remember each other in real life.

The narrator says, "'I'd like to touch you now'...'I tell you now and it's the truth.'"

The quote sets the tone of the narrator which is direct. The narrator was straightforward and honest about how he feels and what he wants from the woman.

Gabriel Marquez writes, " And she said: 'You don't feel the cold.' And I said to her: 'Sometimes.' And she said to me: 'You must feel it now.'"

This quote further supports the theme of the story which is people can feel lonely and desire to have someone by your side. Sometimes, the narrator feels cold and it represents that the narrator feels lonely sometimes. In this story, the man feels cold because he knows that this is a dream and he can only hear her. He feels lonely and wanting for more physical gestures other than just hearing her. He needs her to warm him up.

The narrator says, "I've always wanted to see you like that, with the skin of your belly full of deep pits, as if you'd been beaten."

The quote further supports the tone of the narrator is direct since the narrator was honest about his thoughts. He straightforwardly express his thoughts and feelings about the woman being naked and seeing her like that even if it comes off as clumsy and rude.

The woman says, "if we find each other sometime, put your ear to my ribs when I sleep on the left side and you'll hear me echoing. I've always wanted you to do it sometime."

The quote is a significant quote because it supports a theme in "Eyes of a Blue Dog" which was people don't want to be lonely and desires to have people physically by their sides. In the story, the two characters could hear each other voices in the dream they share together. But the woman desires for more, she wants the narrator to be physically with her and see him sleeping by her side.

Marquez writes, "And she said, still by the lamp, that she had spent the whole afternoon on all fours, washing the tiles and saying: 'Eyes of a blue dog,' until people gathered at the door and said she was crazy."

This quote is significant as it supports the theme in " Eyes of a Blue Dog" which is reality is different from dream. It represents this theme because in the dream world, the two knew the phrase 'Eyes of a Blue Dog' and knows that both of them are somewhere in the world. However in the real world, the woman is searching the narrator that she had dreamed of seems like a crazy move to the people. Few people believe the narrator exists and that a dream is a dream and shouldn't be taken seriously.

Quote 9 of "Eyes of a Blue Dog" by Gabriel Marquez

The narrator says, "now I don't think I'll forget it tomorrow. Still, I've always said the same thing and when I wake up I've always forgotten what the words I can find you with are."

This quote is significant as it supports the theme of the story which is reality is different from dreams. It directly says that the narrator can remember everything about the woman and the words that helps him find where the woman is in dream world. However whenever he wakes up, the narrator always forgets the words that will help him find her. In the dream world, he's positive that he could find her, but in reality the narrator always forgets how to search for her.

Quote 10 of "Eyes of a Blue Dog" by Gabriel Marquez

Marquez writes,"'You'll ruin everything,' she said again before I could touch her. 'Maybe, if you come around behind the lamp, we'd wake up frightened in who knows what part of the world.'"

This quote supports the mood of the story is solemn since the earnest feeling from the woman gives me a feeling that she is not hopeful of the results or the identity of the other person. It gives the story a sad and serious mood as it gives serious thoughts about the chances of them meeting in the real world or dream world. And even if they was able to see each other in dream world, what would they expect of each other. The knowledge of the low chances of them meeting gives me a sad feeling because they can only hear each other in dream other, but can never physically be by each other side. But the woman's earnest thoughts gives the story a serious mood as it makes me wonder seriously about what happens if they met and would they be frightened about each other who knows different parts of the world. Her negative views on meeting each other physically sets the mood as solemn since her thoughts were serious and grim believing that meeting in dream world would ruin everything.
