I hated all of my ap courses. The biggest problem that I had with any sort of advanced prep course of this nature was that they never told you why the course needed to be so hard and when it does a really bad job of doing is it doesn’t delve into a students purpose. It was always leading up to the culminating factor which was the AP test to test how well you’ve learned the subject and everyone always said if you can’t even handle this much you’re not going to be able to handle any sort of college course at all. But that wasn’t true at all I found college courses to be much easier than AP courses. I wasn’t motivated to do well or finish these classes I was just doing them because it’s another thing that everyone around me was doing. That’s not to say the teachers were bad but they could’ve done a better job in putting into perspective and driving the point home as to how AP course is really fit into the bigger picture

I think in my year, some math teachers just started teaching AP courses, so it did feel like we were just jumping from AP standard to AP standard at times, especially towards the end of the year. Because I did the minimum of passing tests and doing homework, I feel like I wasn’t a “concern” and kind of floated by doing my own thing, when I wasn’t really learning all that I could.

I only had one good math teacher and that was for AP Statistics. His classes were engaging and made sure to explain the details of the problem unlike other teachers who talk like the students understand what they mean. He was also the only math teacher that I had who would allow students to come in before school, during lunch, and after school for help.

I was not supported. The teacher was visually annoyed when I needed extra help and the after school program had one tutor that could not help everyone. Community College was where I was able to learn math and eventually stats. Community College had a great tutorial program and the professors were usually supportive.
