Aggression cues can contribute to police aggression as these cues, such as a weapon, triggers people to act aggressively in response.
Group influences can also further contribute to police aggression as it is known to social psychologists that groups - in this case police departments - amplify aggressive responses partly by diffusing the responsibility to the group as a whole, instead of taking individual blame.

These group influences can further increase the authority stereotype for police officers, resulting in them taking on the social role of an authority figure. Subsequently, becoming overpowered by social role and using excessive aggression, as seen in the Zimbardo Prison Experiment.

Implicit biases are when attitudes and stereotypes can influence beliefs, actions, and decisions made by an individual, even when they're not consciously aware of these attitudes or stereotypes. This is a problem with police due to these implicit biases contributing further to aggression shown by them when they're unconsciously making decisions about suspects, usually leading to violence and therefore a social issue.

Frustration Aggression Theory:
"frustration (the blocking of goal-directed behavior) triggers a readiness to aggress".
Therefore, frustration police experience from uncooperative suspects often leads to aggressive behavior - changing from verbally demanding to psychically demanding.
Social Learning Theory:
"aggression is a learned behavior by experiencing and observing others success, we sometimes learn that aggression pays”. Therefore, its fair to say police have been conditioned into experiencing and observing police behaviors throughout their training - yet sometimes some may come to the realization that the more you demonstrate your high status and power, the more you are valued in the police department.
