Use the $20 budget (feel free to top up on your own) to buy a gift for someone in your community (e.g. cleaner, tissue paper seller etc). Take a pic of yourself with the gift and post that pic on this padlet. Owing to privacy issues, do NOT take a pic of the recipient. Also include a brief explanation of why you chose to bless this person in your community.

For the bless the community project, I decided to buy 2 packets of Ayam Penyet, one of my favourite food 😊, and soybean milk🥛 for the foreign workers in charge of the painting our HDB block. Even though this might be a small act of kindness, I hope that it could at least brighten up their day. I am deeply grateful for all their contributions to Singapore and without them, we would not be able to have a well-maintained HDB estate 🏢🏡 to live in. Personally, I would always complain about the hot weather. However, the foreign workers have it much tougher than us. Despite being under the hot sun 🌞, they have to continue working. Seeing the smile on their faces when I handed them the food warmed my heart and from now onwards I will try to give back more to the community. : )

For the “Bless the community project”, I have bought 4 items from the Singapore Association for the Visually Handicapped. The items I purchased were postage stamp mouse pad, tissue holder, card holder and greeting card.

For the mouse pad, I gift it to the security guard at my house. It is to show my appreciation to them for always ensuring residents safety and meeting our needs whenever needed. I came to realize that although I have always greeted them when I see them, but never have I got to properly thank them for their hard work. So I thought this would be a good way to do so! I gave them the mouse pad so that they can use it in the guardhouse since currently they do not have one.

As for the tissue holder, card holder and greeting card, I gave it to a bus driver I met at the bus interchange. It will be really useful for her since I observed that bus drivers carry around tissue packets with them for lunch. I hope that the tissue holder I gift them would be able to brighten their day :) Why I also chose card holder is because I’m sure adults carry many cards around with them. So with this, she will have more space to keep the cards. Along with it I wrote a letter to express my heartfelt gratitude towards them. I’m really happy I got to reward the heroes in our community with the items I bought. I also hope I get to cultivate this action into a habit and do it more frequently 🤍I’m really thankful for the chance to appreciate the people around us.

I also observed from time to time that they would have very small packets of a meal and it worries me that they are not eating enough.

This project really made me reflect and be appreciative of what the cleaners in my block have contributed to keeping the area clean. Thinking back, I know that without their hard work in our areas, the place would probably be in the mess!

After this project, I would try to be more appreciative of the cleaners in my block by continuing to greet them when I see them and also to give them small gifts from time to time.

For the project "Bless the Community", I have decided to show my up most appreciation to the healthcare workers, especially the nurses. They have put in all their time and effort in the past two and a half years to fight off the pandemic, COVID-19. With the restless days and nights, they still continue to put up their professionalism in treating the patients and do up their duty.

Especially some nurses who are currently pregnant, they are still ready to serve and give their time for the hospital and the patients!! I am really touched by the effort and act they have even for us. ❤️🤍

Thank you to all the nurses out their, who gave up their all and be selfless in providing us with the best care. 👩‍⚕️❤️🤍

Hence, for this project I have decided to provide them with this little appreciation of Kitkat, Crispy Rice Cake and packets of green tea. I sincerely hope that the pandemic will slowly die off and bring us back to our normal. ❤️‍🔥💖💝

To end off, this project has made me reflect and appreciate what we have now is not easy. Someone paid the price for us, no matter is their time or health. I really appreciate the contribution from the healthcare workers to ensure that we can live in a safe and peaceful nation.

Through this session, I am more determined to pursue nursing as nursing not only requires emotional intelligence but also a caring heart with the ability to hold on the responsibilities. Helping out more people is like helping out yourself!

Once again, thank you all healthcare professionals 🙏

I decided to get some Milo packet drinks for the migrant workers that have been really working very hard to reconstruct my neighbourhood since last year!

Once Covid-19 hit, many of the migrant workers were not able to return home, and majority were even isolated in their dormortories to prevent the spread. Nonetheless, they have still given so much to Singapore when the measures were more relaxed and especially since last year, they done so much reconstruction around my neighbourhood. From building shelters, to abseiling at the side of the HDB block to paint the walls, to redoing the floor of 19 levels and now currently constructing an exercise corner near my neighbourhood playground!

Especially during this hot weather, they are still working hard in improving my living conditions! Therefore, I bought Milo packet drinks and refrigerated them before giving it to them. This is in hopes to show appreciation to Milo-vely friends and that they will cool down and be more energised!

I think the weather is pretty hot these days and dehydration is a concern so i got some chrysanthemum tea which is cooling and yummy at the same time as well as some herbal candy and some snacks as shown in the image.

The workers have been working hard despite the hot weather everyday to help us renovate our neighbourhood and even though sometimes we would complain about the noise, we should still appreiciate their hard work. Without these workers, Singapore wouldn't be as beautiful as it is today and they contribute so much to our community hence I would like to contribute back and thank them for their work.

I hope that Singaporeans would also treat migrant workers well as they are important to our community and they are really nice people as well:)

For "Bless Your Community", I decided to buy a breakfast combo set. This combo set includes coffee, tea, Julie's sugar biscuits as well as Oreo! I believe they all go well together :D. As for my target audience, I decided to give back to the migrant workers working on the new and upcoming Woodlands Health Campus near my home.

It has been nearly 7 years since the construction of the Woodlands Health Campus started and in spite of all the tough environmental conditions as well as the inconveniences caused by the pandemic, these migrant workers still wake up early in the morning and brace through these tough times. And I believe this is something small that I can do on my part to appreciate the blood, sweat and tears that they've contributed to Singapore.

This project allowed me to be more aware of the things that are going on in my neighborhood. As I was walking near the construction site looking for someone whom I can pass this gift to, I realized the very harsh conditions that migrant workers work in. Their work condition is warm, dirty, congested and it's something which many Singaporeans, dare I say, no Singaporeans would put themselves in. Many of these migrant workers come to Singapore to earn a living for their families back at home. However, there have been many instances where they were treated with much disrespect and are under appreciated. Therefore, I wanted to take this opportunity to appreciate migrant workers even though sometimes I wish there was more that I can do for them. For now, this is my small token of appreciation to these tough and resilient migrant workers!

For the "Bless Your Community" project, I decided to purchase tissue papers from the tissue paper sellers and also giving them a mini care-pack containing masks and hand sanitiser, with a bottle of Ayataka as it is pretty hot in Singapore these days. Other than that, I also spent an additional $10 to buy food for grabfood drivers.

Though they may not be as underprivileged as the rest, I felt that they are also one of Singapore's frontline workers as they are the ones delivering food to us in times of the Covid pandemic. Without them, we wouldn't be getting our food in the comfort of our homes. I feel that grabfood drivers are underappreciated, and are always constantly getting scolded by customers or even food merchants if they are late or whatsoever. Sometimes, they may even miss meals to ensure that they hit the daily quota of food deliveries and also to hit the maximum orders during rush hours. Hence, I've decided to buy them a meal, to thank them for their efforts and travelling around Singapore.

For the tissue paper sellers, other than purchasing the tissues from them, I decided to give each of them a carepack as well. Though it may not be a lot, but they were extremely thankful towards me and said that in these days, no one really bothers to even look at them hence they were really appreciative towards me, and that reminded me that even though it may be a simple act, it can easily brighten up someone's day. Sharing is caring, and hence if we have something good to share that can make someone else happy, we should definitely do it. Furthermore the tissue paper sellers are of pretty old age, and it's really heartbreaking to see that they still have to work during this Covid situation instead of resting at home. I hope that everyone will show more appreciation towards the underprivileged group in Singapore, and treat everyone with kindness.

For the “bless your community” project, I decided to purchase food and drinks for the delivery riders.

I have seen many delivery riders near my house and regardless of the timing being morning or night, they do delivery constantly. It is a very tiring job as they have to travel to multiple locations in order to reach their quota and receive their income.

In this Covid times, there are many who lost their jobs and some of them have joined the delivery sector. It is definitely tough for them as the schedule is not fixed and the income is not standard / consistent. Apart from that, this job requires them to travel continuously. Thus, there might have been times where they forgot to have their meal. It would be physically very tiring and exhausting as well.

Personally, I do order in frequently and truly appreciate all the delivery riders. They travel from different locations in order to deliver us our food in our convenience. It is never easy to be travelling around in a bicycle under the hot sun in Singapore to deliver food. However, they are not appreciated much by many as they do receive complaints or scoldings from customers for delayed in delivery or any wrong order.

Even though, they are not underprivileged. They do work really hard in this sector to receive the income and run their lives. It would have been certainly tough for them during these covid times as well.

Thus, when this project started the first group of people whom I wanted to give back to was the delivery riders. I truly appreciate the effort they put in and hope this small token makes them happy!

I hope that everyone who orders food will appreciate their delivery riders more and say “thank you” or “have a nice day” that will certainly make them happy as well :)

For the "bless your community" project, I bought Oolong Tea and Oreos for the security guards, gardeners and cleaners in my house.

On many times when I come home at 3-4am, I see the security guards at my Condo on their night shift. I feel very indebted to them, since while all the residents are fast asleep, these security guards are staying awake to ensure our safety. I feel especially bad since majority of these security guards look quite old (Older than 50-60 years old?) and also because some residents take them for granted and even scold them occasionally.

I also feel indebted to the gardeners and cleaners in my house. I live on the first floor, and often there will be many fallen leaves near my balcony whenever it rains. Although many residents argue that it is their job, I am very thankful for the cleaners who quickly sweep up the fallen leaves and branches as they are not required to do their job the moment the rain stops. I often see them and the gardeners doing their jobs under the hot sun, and I often pass them some drinks when they come pass my house.

I bought Oolong Tea for the cleaners and gardeners. Recently, there has been unpredictable weather conditions as it can turn from very hot and sunny to sudden heavy showers. Oolong Tea is a good "cooling" drink, which is a lifesaver during hot weather.

I bought Oreos (peanut butter & chocolate flavour) because through my conversation with the security guards, they said that they found it very cold to stay inside the aircon security guard house for very long periods of time. They have also said that they often drink hot coffee while in there. As such, I believe Oreos would be a good match with their coffee. They also feedbacked that they like the peanut butter & chocolate flavor.

I hope they will enjoy the gifts that I bought. I also would like to thank them once again for their services.

For this project, I've decided to donate some food staples for a Ramadhan donation drive that's happening in my neighbourhood mosque, Masjid An-Nur! The donation drive is run by youth volunteers at the mosque and they're collecting food donations to be given to 200 households. I think it's amazing that young people are coming together to help others.

For those who are unfamiliar, Ramadhan is a holy month for Muslims and during this month, we fast from dawn till dusk.

Fasting can be hard sometimes, especially if a particular day is physically and/or mentally challenging. In all my years of celebrating Ramadhan, I've always been blessed to have broken my fast on time with an abundance amount of food. After all, food is energy. However, I am aware that Ramadhan might be even more challenging for others who do not share the same circumstances as me. From my understanding, my neighbourhood has many elderly residents who are living alone. Typically, Ramadhan is a time where we enjoy dinner with our friends and families as company.

I hope with my donation, someone from my community would be able to celebrate Ramadhan with enough food to give them the energy they need.

I do realise that I take things, like food, for granted sometimes, since they're so readily available and accessible.

This project has made me aware about others in my community and it has galvanised me to do what I can to help. Before this, I didn't even know how to help or contribute and therefore, being part of this project has made me more aware of the volunteer programmes, food donation drives, charity events etc that's happening in my very own neighbourhood. I truly admire the people, such as the youth volunteers, who are constantly putting in time and energy into making things easier for the people in our community.

I truly do feel blessed to have been able to contribute in any way I can and I hope this Ramadhan will be a fruitful one for those who are celebrating. <3

For the bless my community project, I have decided to target migrant construction workers in Singapore. Migrant workers are one of the most underappreciated groups of people in Singapore. This group of hard-working, solid laboring people help to construct and maintain buildings rain or shine, keep the city clean and often work long hours and dangerous jobs to keep our society functioning. They would oftentimes also live in unsuitable conditions

Hence, I have decided to give a few tissue packets, alcohol wipes and masks. I hope that this care pack can help him tide through the covid 19 pandemic and stay clean and healthy.
This project made me reflect on the things that we Singaporeans take for granted such as the public transport, buildings and air conditioner that we enjoy and that we do not see that there is a whole group of people who help keep everything running.

Of course, everyone loves Milo, and i'm not surprised that i'm currently the 4th person who has decided to give our beloved Milo packet drinks to our community 😂

Before distributing it, i made sure to chill the Milo packets first, so that my recipients can enjoy nice and cold Milo in Singapore's scorching weather.
Being quite an active user of public transport, I decided to bless and energize my bus captains with Milo over a span of 3 weeks. Even though i am usually quite shy to even say "good morning" to them, i realised that they are the ones responsible for our safety on the road, and we often neglect that fact, and some people even abuse them. This pandemic has also taken a big hit on bus captains. With many of them testing positive, their colleagues had to cover for them and work extra hard, and probably longer hours. Didn't you realise that the waiting time for your bus, and the frequency of the buses were still nearly the same?

This project has certainly made me step out of my comfort zone by interacting with strangers, and instill a spirit of generosity in me. Because i conducted it over a span of 3 weeks, it has also become a habit for me and i intend to continue these small acts of kindness that certainly brightened up their day.

For this project because of covid measures i decided to try and "bless" my neighbours by sharing with them some indonesian food that my group had tried. throughout the journey one of the most enjoyable parts has been the food and i would like to share that with them.
My neighbours always send us food during Hari raya and it was nice to return the favour. I think over the years we have become more seprated, not talking to our neighbours so it was nice to have an opportunity to strengthen our neighbourhood bond via a part of the program i have enjoyed.

i decided to hand out some of these goodies to the cleaners and also safe distancing ambassadors at my nearby mall where i live. I have lived in this estate for the whole of my life, and i pass by this mall everyday, surprisingly, the cleaners have never changed. They have always been respectful and cheerful, greeting people as they walked by and it warms my heart to see how cheerful they are at this age. Cleaners are the people who help keep our place clean, and they too are very important.
For the safe distancing ambassadors, i feel that even though they might not have been working for very long, they are still very important and are people that also keep to keep us safe. Thus, i feel that they are also very important and thus i decided to include them on my list!
