Following that, the business determined travel times for 2021 in 404 cities across 58 different nations. According to this report, the place with the worst traffic was found to be Istanbul. Traffic causes more problems than just commuting delays. Congestion can also have an impact on how the public perceives a community. It may deter new businesses and potential residents from relocating to the area due to the constant traffic. Traffic also has a large and significant impact on the environment. It causes not only air but also noise pollution. nitrogen oxides (NOX), carbon monoxide (CO), unburned hydrocarbons (CxHy), sulfur oxides (SOX), solid particles, including aerosols, as well as carbon dioxide (CO2) are the major pollutants that contribute to the pollution which causes the leading cause of rising externalities, vehicle emissions, and other pollutants that harm the environment and atmosphere, resulting in negative atmospheric phenomena, global warming, and climate change.

Traffic congestion happens when there are too many cars on a roadway at once. This result in a traffic jam where motion is crippled and time to reach to a destination increased. There are many reasons other than having too many cars on a road that result in traffic congestion. Accidents and breakdowns of cars can can cause a disruption in the flow of the traffic and ultimately lead to the traffic congestion. Constructions of buildings, roads and flyovers cause the roadways to be clogged deflecting the traffic to somewhere else thus causing traffic jams. Meteorological conditions like snow and rain also make up a big role in jamming the ways.

HOW DO WE DEAL WITH TRAFFIC CONGESTION?

Dealing with traffic is a collective effort of everyone involved. Both the government and commuters have a responsibility and role to play to cope with the problem and rise above it. Investing and developing a better public transportation is the most permanent solution when it comes to traffic because it provides better options outside the private vehicles and it is the best way to deal with the overpopulation and daily work cycle. As for the commuters, following the simple traffic rules and using more public transport can ease the traffic jams occuring as there will be less cars and less accidents happening on the road
