Think of any book, movie, tv show, or even real life experience (personal or not) that would help support your answer to the following question--- How does a person's family/upbringing shape who they are and their perspective on life?

A person's upbringing/experiences as a child has great effect on what they do later in life. For example, Steve Rodgers grew up as "the little guy", always discounted and bullied. When he became Captain America, he always protects the little guy, because he remembers how that felt. This is the case for most superheros actually.

A person's family and upbringing shapes who they are by giving them examples of who to grow up like and emulate, whether good or bad. For example, in Harry Potter, by J.K. Rowling, Draco Malfoy is primarily raised by his mother and his father, Lucius Malfoy, an evil person who killed and tortured many throughout his time as a death eater. Because his dad was such an awful person, Draco grew up to be mean and arrogant, copying his father's personality traits as best he could.

His childhood, spent mastering the art of airbending and spirituality, demonstrate how his destiny was decided for him. His guardians sought to raise him to fulfill his preordained destiny like his predecessors. Because of his status as a chosen one and his careful upbringing by enlightened spiritual masters, Aang learned to have a wider worldview and accepted his duty to save the world.

A person's family or upbringing greatly shapes who they become in the future. For example, in the Hunger Games, Katniss Everdeen's upbringing of living in the poorest district that was the worst off as compared to the other ones, led her to make the choices she made. Since she had grown up living and seeing how the lowest of people in her society had to suffer while the higher-ups thrived, she saw the issues of how their world was set up. Her recognizing the issues caused her to take a stand and fight for what she thought was right. If she had an upbringing in District 1 and been rich and well off her whole life, she would not have seen the problems that others faced, and therefore wouldn't have taken a stand like she did.

Cinderella never has a mother figure to instill any confidence or worth in her, so when she leaves her home, all she knows is doubt.

Parents and family mold each other into the people they are, because personality changes based on experience. One key instance of this can be seen through the graphic novel Maus, an entirely true story conveyed through exaggerated illustrations. Vladek Spiegelman is the father of the author, Art Spiegelman. Vladek's pragmatic personality combined with a gripping desperation and permanent sense of urgency from the Holocaust all make him the stingy and stubborn man he was in Art's childhood. Through this, when he becomes an independent adult, he spends much time defying his father by indulging in the exact opposite of his practices - buying many things and having fun. He became his father's opposite in an attempt of resistance.

The way someone is raised completely shapes who they become in the future. In the movie "Everything Everywhere All at Once" the main character Evelyn was practically raising herself. Being born a female in China set her up for failure, as her family wasn't the most caring to what they deemed a failure. Her upbringing shapes her passive-aggressive demeanor and unwillingness to accept something different or unique. Her strained relationship with her daughter and husband who she doesn't understand at all is present through the movie, I mean it is the entire premise and main conflict of the story, but I also believe hardship growing up is ultimately a positive impact in the long-run. In the movie, she realizes her mistakes, and stops at nothing to make it up to her daughter even if she continuously pushes her away. In the end, we see a flourishing relationship, somewhat like a wildflower peeking through the concrete sidewalk.

Her mother often made her feel guilty for not thinking about her family when wanted to do things that would make her happy. As a result, Rose felt constantly pressured to make decisions that reflected well on her family name and felt trapped, even as a young adult.
