         <description><![CDATA[<div>Main focus: To foster a love of reading by allowing students to choose their own books. <br>Students respond to the reading by writing in their journals, conferencing with teachers, and sharing thoughts and ideas within small groups.<br>Students take ownership of their own learning and must value the importance of sustained silent reading.<br>Teachers give mini-lessons about procedures, reading strategies, or literary skills. <br>An example of a reading strategy called, "Stop and Jot," is pictured below</div>]]></description>
