Peace is knowing you are safe from both internal and external forces. Peace is knowing that when you speak you will be heard. Peace is being sure that your tribe does not draw judgement against you. Peace is what I wish my country will have

Peace to me, is the absence of conflict and the positive coexistence of humans. In my country, there is relatively no peace.

The libraries can ensure peace in a country by acquiring and circulating materials that do not encourage war and conflict in any way, also it can also organise sensitization to make people know the importance of peaceful coexistence and shun violence in all it's entirety. The library can also paste some tracts on peace on the library billboards.

The social media on the other hand, is now the masses media..where they get first hand information. So people should be careful about what they share on social media so as not to mislead the masses. Before sharing anything, people should stop and think out the following: "will it encourage peace and shun violencen? Is it the truth.? Is it fair to all concerned? Will it be beneficial to all concerned? Will it build goodwill and better friendship"? If the answer to any of those questions is no, then do not share the message or article. The above questions should also guide our daily actions to ensure a peaceful coexistence.

Personally, I do not belong, support or encourage any group or organisation that do not encourage a peaceful coexistence of man.I do ensure I don't share anything on social media that will incite conflict. I also try to explain to people as much as I can the effects of war, though I have not witnessed it but my father narrated to me what they passed through during the biafran war of 1967-1970. And so I don't wish that even my worst enemy should experience it.

In all, all hands must be on deck to shun conflict and violent activities and ensure total peace. Individuals, media houses, libraries, churches, and organizations should rise up to the call for peace.

Peace is a state of being in a friendly mood with people around you, people you meet in your everyday activity. As a librarian, the fostering of peace is crucial in that many students from different tribes visit the library, it is my duty to be impartial in rendering my duties. The services available must be equitably reached

Peace is a sine qua non for development among any people, communities, and nations at large. It is the absence of conflicts, wars etc in any given society. Peace can only thrive in an atmosphere of justice, truth, and equal rights. Marginalization, outright denials of rights, corrupt practices triggers tension, conflicts that is capable of eeroding peace in all ramifications. Peace to me is all about friendly coexistence in our offices, homes, religious places, among different ethnic groups in the society.
Libraries are strategic peace sanctuaries in all ramifications. Libraries are positioned to promote peace. Libraries should carry out peace rallies in schools, institutions of higher learning, and in our communities to sensitize individuals on the dangers of conflicts, tensions and wars. Such rallies should be aimed at promoting peaceful coexistence. Libraries are agents of change. Librarians must come out of library spaces, be more innovative and creative in information service delivery. Libraries could organize townhall meetings in our communities to sensitize traditional rulers, youths, adults etc on peaceful coexistence among individuals and neighbouring communities. Many inter tribal conflicts are avoidable if libraries are able to take such afore mentioned responsibilities .
Suffice to say that libraries are not solely custodians of knowledge, but should be more embedded in the communities they serve.
Libraries can organize skill acquisition programmes for our teeming youths to empower them to be better citizens thereby dissuading them from carrying arms and ammunitions at every slightest provocation. Libraries can engage our youths in all ramifications. Llibrarians need not wait for people to come to the libraries anylonger, but should go out to the people to promote peace for sustainsble development in our society.

Nelson Edew
