They then in 1973 moved to Santee California United States. In which my dad grew up. Most people would get a sponsor who would help them get across and become citizens and get jobs. They would be vouch for and such. as well in the late 1800s early 1900s when my mother's family immigrated from Poland and Ireland they faced a lot of discrimination because they were Irish and at that time the Irish were not valued.
