Not many people know about India. Where it’s at or who’s there but they just know that India exists. There are many things that you can find in India. India is in the continent of Asia and borders Bangladesh, Pakistan, Afghanistan, China, Bhutan, Myanmar, and Nepal. India is a peninsula which means that it is mostly surrounded by water. There are one billion people who practice Hinduism which is a religion that is found and practiced throughout India. India was free from the British since August 15, 1947. The first Prime Minister was Jawaharlal Nehru and now it is Narendra Modi. In conclusion, India is a country with one billion people who practice Hinduism and is a country where not most people know about India and where it is located. India borders 7 countries and is a peninsula. The British took over India until August 15, 1947, when India became a free country. The Prime Minister of India is Narendra Modi.

Animals

In India, there are many different kinds of animals that you wouldn't find in North America. The national animal of India is the tiger, and you can only find them in North American zoos. One type of animal that is sacred in India is the cow! The national bird is the Indian Peacock. A few of the most popular animals that you can find in India include cows, rhinos, sloth bears, elephants, leopards, and snow leopards. The best time to go visit these animals depends on which one someone wants to see. The best time to see the tiger is between March and April because it is the easiest time to see them during the "dry season" in India. One cool animal that is found in India and nowhere else is the Nilgiri Tahr. To sum up, animals can be found throughout India. The best time to see some of the animals depends on what someone wants to see. The national animal is the tiger and is found usually between March and April. The Nilgiri Tahr is the only animal found in India and nowhere else in the world.

Holidays and Celebrations

India celebrates many unique holidays. Some unique ones are Eid al-Adha and Diwali. Eid al-Adha is a celebration day where they sacrifice an animal, and then divide it among themselves and the poor. Diwali is the biggest holiday of the year and they place clay lamps outside of their homes and they believe that the light protects them from a spiritual darkness. The most popular are India Republic Day and Diwali. India Republic Day is when they close businesses, have parades and military displays, and no alcohol is sold. It celebrates India's constitution being signed. Many of the holidays are celebrated after a famous person who has died for India. There are a few that are close to the ones celebrated in the United States! In India, they celebrate Christmas just like Americans do and it is celebrated on December 25 every year. India has an Indian Independence Day where they celebrate how they became a free country. Americans have one too but it is celebrated on July 4. To summarize, the celebrations can be close to the ones celebrated in the United States, and most are very unique. Diwali and India Republic Day are the most popular holidays that are celebrated. Parades and businesses close on India Republic Day. Christmas is celebrated on December 25 just like in America.

Food and Drinks

Food is a very important factor in India. The most common and favorite desserts are, Gulab Jamun and Jalebi. Gulab Jamun is the most loved dessert in India. It is made of flour and milk deep-fried in syrup. Jalebi is the national dessert in India and is found anywhere in India. It is like a funnel cake but made in bite-sized pieces. The national dish that can be found anywhere in India is Khichdi. Khichdi is found in many restaurants around India and Indians eat it as a comfort food. It has rice and many different spices included in the dish. Spices play a big part in Indian food and the food is full of different spices. When Indians eat, they are most likely to have a drink with them. Tea and coffee are most commonly found in India and people drink it almost every single day. Chai is the national drink in India. In conclusion, spices in Indian food are very important in all meals. Jalebi and Gulab Jamun are desserts and Jelebi is the national dessert. The national food is Khichdi which can be found in many restaurants all over the country.

In conclusion, India can be found on the continent of Asia and has a population of around 1 billion people who practice Hinduism. India has many unique animals in their country. Animals can be found all over the country and India has animals that are not found in the United States. Many of their holidays are based on famous people who have died doing something for the country. India Republic Day and Diwali are the most popular holidays celebrated. Christmas is celebrated in India and also in the U.S. In the Indian culture, many of their foods have a wide variety of spices. Chai is a tea that is drunk every day. Chai also is India's national drink. Finally, India is a cool country to learn about. The culture and traditions are diverse. The animals are unique in many different ways, and the foods are filled with so many spices and can be found anywhere. The most practiced religion is Hinduism and over 1 billion people practice it.
