Bacon's Rebellion was a rebellion consisting of poor farmers and indentured servants led by Francis Bacon in response to Sir William Berkeley's lack of defense for the Virginian frontiers against the Native Americans, therefore, many plantation owners looked towards African slavery as a way to lower the chances of rebellion.<br><br></div>]]></description>

Cash crops such as tobacco and cotton were labor intensive. A decline in indentured servants from England left a demand for Southern plantations to fulfill. The demand was filled with slaves from Africa, who had no choice in whether or not to come and could not earn their freedom like indentured servants.</div>]]></description>

In the British colonies the economy was based off of cash crops, agriculture and trade. They needed labor for the extraneous tasks that needed to be completed for the cash crops to grow. The Africans were brought over from across the Atlantic to help cultivate the crops and use as labor for other economic reasons the British needed them for. This is one of the reasons why there was a rise in Africans in the British colony to help the colonies be able to make profit through the forced labor. </div>]]></description>
