Teaching with technology: What Is Successful Technology Integration?Well-integrated use of technology resources by thoroughly trained teachers makes twenty-first-century learning possible.Technology integration is the use of technology resources -- computers, mobile devices like smartphones and tablets, digital cameras, social media platforms and networks, software applications, the Internet, etc. -- in daily classroom practices, and in the management of a school. Successful technology integration is achieved when the use of technology is:Routine and transparentAccessible and readily available for the task at handSupporting the curricular goals, and helping the students to effectively reach their goalsWhen technology integration is at its best, a child or a teacher doesn't stop to think that he or she is using a technology tool -- it is second nature. And students are often more actively engaged in projects when technology tools are a seamless part of the learning process.Defining Technology IntegrationBefore we can discuss how to shift our pedagogy or the role of the teacher in a classroom that is integrating technology, it is important to first define what "technology integration" actually means. Seamless integration is when students are not only using technology daily, but have access to a variety of tools that match the task at hand and provide them the opportunity to build a deeper understanding of content. But how we define technology integration can also depend on the kinds of technology available, how much access one has to technology, and who is using the technology. For instance, in a classroom with only an interactive whiteboard and one computer, learning is likely to remain teacher-centric, and integration will revolve around teacher needs, not necessarily student needs. Still, there are ways to implement even an interactive whiteboard to make it a tool for your students.Willingness to embrace change is also a major requirement for successful technology integration. Technology is continuously, and rapidly, evolving. It is an ongoing process and demands continual learning."Effective integration of technology is achieved when students are able to select technology tools to help them obtain information in a timely manner, analyze and synthesize the information, and present it professionally. The technology should become an integral part of how the classroom functions -- as accessible as all other classroom tools." -- National Educational Technology Standards for Students, International Society for Technology in EducationWhen effectively integrated into the curriculum, technology tools can extend learning in powerful ways. These tools can provide students and teachers with:Access to up-to-date, primary source materialMethods of collecting/recording dataWays to collaborate with students, teachers, and experts around the worldOpportunities for expressing understanding via multimediaLearning that is relevant and assessment that is authenticTraining for publishing and presenting their new knowledge(What Is Successful Technology Integration?, 2007)ReferencesWhat Is Successful Technology Integration?

A key transition over the history of information technology has been in the shift from passive audiences to active users. Digital technologies permit users unprecedented control over the content they consume and the place in and pace at which they consume it. At the heart of effective technology integration practices, digital technologies offer learners greater opportunities to be more actively involved in the learning experience.
According to findings culled from five meta-analyses, blending technology with face-to-face teacher time generally produces better outcomes than face-to-face or online learning alone. An analysis of effective technology use for at-risk students found that simply replacing teachers with computer-based instruction typically yields no learning benefits. Rather, blending technology with teachers to support interactive learning, exploration, and creation (instead of “drill and kill” techniques) leads to higher engagement and learning gains (Darling-Hammond, Zielezinski, & Goldman, 2014). However, there is currently limited rigorous research on the specific features of technology integration that improve learning. Meanwhile, the marketplace of learning technologies continues to grow and vary widely in terms of content, quality, implementation, and context of use.

One theme that has emerged from the research to date is that simply adding technology to K-12 environments does not necessarily improve learning. Rather, what matters most is how students and teachers use technology to develop knowledge and skills. Successful technology integration for learning generally goes hand in hand with changes in teacher training, curricula, and assessment practices . Edutopia’s review of the literature also finds that successful technology integration generally involves three key principles:

Students playing an active role in their learning and receiving frequent, personalized feedback

Students critically analyzing and actively creating media messages

Teachers connecting classroom activities to the world outside the classroom.

These tools helped the students to understand the topic at hand but also facilitated the teacher to get a clear picture of her students learning and understand which topics needs reinforcement
In short, if the technology becomes our second nature and an integral part of our classrooms so our children will feel more empowered and connected to the wider world.

More and more gadgets are becoming a part of our daily lives.
Teaching and Technology made the perfect fusion of digital world. This video showed the perfect example of using technology in a classroom. Students and teacher both had the perfect understanding of tablets, projectors, presentations and desktop computers. Through technology teacher is perfectly demonstrating ideas. Most importantly it was an interactive and collaborative session where students were sharing their views with confidence.

Today we use technology in almost everythings.Anywhere we go we will find at least one device with a micro chip or processor.Be it your home your office or any other place.Technologies everywhere.Technology that we use makes our work easier and also more interesting.Everybody wants everything done on the touch of a button rather than writting it down or doing it manually.Thats why technology goes really well with teaching or learning.Children don't like writting and lectures. They won't more technology involved, screens to look at and buttons to click upon.Besides,e-learning games are, according to a research, more effective than textbooks. In the video it is shown that the teacher uses software like socrative and edmodo. The teacher does not have to make a lot of effort to know where a child stands and who needs more attention. She can easily update a quiz or homework. In conclusion,I would say that technology,if used correctly can make teaching easier and learning interesting for childre
