Scout speaks her mind to things she feels confident about and brings out the theme in chapter 2 of confidence when she speaks her mind to her father and teacher about her knowledge, and lessons throughout the story. And throughout the story, she says what she thinks. In chapter 6, Gem and Dill say they want to play alone in their backyard and Scout thinks that is not fair and tells her older brother that she owns the yard just as much and dosnt care what he says cause she knows whats right and has confidence in whats she says.

"Had her conduct been more friendly toward me, I would have felt sorry for her." She is very upset that Ms.Caroline underestimated her reading skills and was rude to her. She was a real eye opener when she stuck up for Cunningham and told her teacher what was on her mind.
