The story I remember listening to was on a record of Snow White and I remember being freaked out by the witch on there. I know I read lots of little stories, loved Beatrix Potter Peter Rabbit books and some Afrikaans stories (I lived in South Africa) but not so much stories being told to me. One was about dinosaurs and the other was about my family. At that time I wanted to be an author and illustrator. I loved that they were like real books since we stitched the pages together and had cardboard bindings covered with fabric. I was born soon after my father returned from fighting on the front line of World War II in Belgium. His experience remained fresh for him and he had war stories to tell that had much to do with life.
