This is an article published from the Center for American Progress, written by Liz Kennedy and Hannah Parnes. This is an article directed to the reader. They are informing the reader about the violation of voting rights in many communities (especially of color) and how you must look out for any signs of voter fraud. To some extent , Orwell could've been warning people about potentially powerful people being able to revoke simple rights, such as voting. If we are not being allowed, at least, in this country, to vote, it beats the purpose of being an American citizen. Aside from having the benefit of having many freedoms, one right that is a given to Americans is voting, and no one should stop us from doing so.

This is a picture of the first page of the Los Angeles Times with the headliner "Nixon Quits". This is from the Los Angeles Times. This was published in August 8, 1974. This newspaper was informing the reader of what had happened once President Nixon had taken part in the Watergate Scandal. After constantly denying the fact that he had taken part in the scandal, he ended up yielding tapes that proved his involvement. If Orwell had seen this, he would've told he reader to always be aware of what's happening with the gov't's affairs, even if it may might not affect you directly. You can't assume that a person in power is always righteous, you will never know their true intentions when they have power.

This is one of many memes that consists of the candidates who ran for president. This meme can be easily found on the internet. The meme seems normal until you read Trump's description "The Last President." They were trying to say if Trump were to be president, he would be the last one because he probably end democracy and become a dictator. Orwell was mainly warning readers about being in a gov't in which your leader is a dictator and there is no democracy or in other words, a totalitarian gov't. We have seen what happens when democracy ends and a brutal leader takes over, like Hitler or Mussolini for example.

This skit is a regular interview with a comedic twist. Donald Trump was asked how he would create jobs and wasn't specific at all. In 1984, Orwell shows how the people of Oceania don't process the information they're given and just swallow it with no trouble. One should always be well- informed and when it comes to choosing a leader, one must know their plans to make things better for the greater good of its citizens.

This is a statistic of the voter turnout from 1789 to 2016. This from The Business Insider. This statistic is showing the reader how the voter has changed drastically ever since the 1700's. The turnout for the past election was higher than the 2008 election but it was by a short amount. Orwell would tell us to keep on voting every time we have the chance to do so.
