I feel like Argo does create great characters for the real historical figures. Since it's historical fiction, they also created some other parts, that really add a dynamic for the story, for example the directors are not real directors but represent the people that actually helped.

The distance of the settings also creates a sense of "panic". The distance between the two locations leaves people worried for the 6 people locked in the Canadian Ambassadors house, because if something happened to them America could not directly intervene. So we are kind of given the sense that they are alone in fending for themselves until further notice(being save by Tony Mendez).

The iconography of this film may leave the viewer feeling uneasy or tense. As this film, represents Iran's hate for Americans as we see one held at gunpoint during the raiding of the embassy. As well as, American flags are being burned or tarnished. We are shown weapons such as tear gas grenade launchers and fire arms that really keep one on edge.

The setting represents old Iranian cities of the past. As well as America, specifically Hollywood, were in the past as well. The time is set in 1979-81. This is represented by different things in the setting, such as calendars, cars, and even some of the buildings shown in America.

The plot of Argo is based on the story of the 1979-1981 Iran Hostage Crisis. I feel this movie does really well in doing so. The film aligns with the events we know of, extremely well. To call this a historical fiction, the plot needs to do exactly that.

Although the film has bits of humor riddled within, Argo takes a serious tone, it has a strong moral view of the Iran Hostage Situation. Throughout the entire film, Affleck makes it clear to us that the situation is serious as it is never really joked about, other than the methods used for extraction.

The film uses a lot of quick cuts between the intense scenes, this can aid in showing how it might have felt to the people who were truly involved fueled by adrenaline. It also uses a lot of wide shots to show historical places such as the airport this happened at.

The quick cuts and wide shots show the impact of violence in places. For example when we see the true magnitude of the rioting crowd in the beginning it leaves us a bit nervous. The quick cuts create anxiety of uncertainty.
