A mindset is the thing in your brain that tells you how to learn or improve on a skillset or something new. There are two types of common mindsets. One is called a growth mindset, and the other is called a fixed mindset.

Someone with a growth mindset will be more open to learning new things, and if put up against a challenge they would be pushing against it and trying to pull their way through. People with a growth mindset would say or think things like, "Making mistakes is a chance to learn new things", and "I can do anything if I put my mind to it". With a growth mindset, you will have the ability to grow in almost everything you do.

A fixed mindset is the exact opposite of a growth mindset. Someone who has a fixed mindset will be less open to learning new things, and they will be doubting themselves by saying things like, " What is the point of doing it if I know I'm going to fail?", and " I not going to be able to do it any better than I did it the first time." When faced with a challenge, they will sometimes not be able to overcome it, or they will be doubting themselves so much that they will feel like they are under pressure to do well or finish it and will be very stressed, and some will be so overwhelmed by the challenge that they will give up because of how difficult the challenge is.

My Mindset

After learning about mindsets, I started wondering what my mindset was. So over the next few days, I found things that people with a growth or fixed mindset would be thinking or saying to themselves, and I quickly realized that I didn't fit in to either of those categories. When faced with challenges, I usually pull through, but when faced with something new, depending on what it is, I am not always the most eager to learn it, rather focused on doing better with the things I already know how to do. So, I think I have a little bit of a fixed mindset, and a little bit of a growth mindset, and although everyone technically has a fixed mindset, I believe I have more of a mixed mindset than some.
