This system also provides protection to organs like the brain with the skull, lungs and heart with the ribs, etc. It also provides movement to the body as muscle, joints, tendons, etc. are attached to the bone. Another function of the skeletal system is that the bone marrow within the bone produces red and white blood cells. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>A disease that affects the skeletal system is osteoporosis. This disease thins and weakens the bone making it more fragile and vulnerable to fractures. Fractures are most commonly occurring in hips, spines, and wrists. Osteoporosis makes the bone so brittle and weak that even coughing or bending can cause a fracture. </div>]]></description>

They work with the skeletal system because they specialize in bone and joint injuries and disorders. An orthopedist provide rehabilitation to an affected area or function and advising on how to reduce more damage. To be an orthopedic, training includes 4 years of collage, 4 years of medical school, residency, and possibly additional training. They can work at a hospital setting, private clinic, etc. The salary of an orthopedic surgeon can be from 300,000-600,000. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Ellen is a 52 year old women who has osteoporosis of the hip and spine and arthritis and has suffered multiple fractures of the neck, hip and shoulder. About 30 years ago, Ellen suffered a compression fracture of a neck vertebrae while sleeping. About 23 years ago, she slipped on a wet kitchen floor and had a spinal compression fracture. Six weeks after that, she suffered yet another compression fracture while walking. Other breaks have included hip and shoulder fractures from falls. She has a small build and the disease has affected other family members are risks factors of osteoporosis. He treatment includes She has taken medication for osteoporosis for more than 15 years to slow down bone loss, calcium supplements for more than 40 years, and a vitamin D supplement.</div>]]></description>
