-Teachers decide what material to teach about history, and which student experiences provide the best opportunity to do so.
-For example, choosing a theme like how people move can give students a chance to connect it with their lives.
-It also provides a theme that can be revisited throughout the year.

-Students can connect best when provided with an individual human and their story.
-Providing multisensory experiences are a great way to connect: Can students see what clothes the person wore, how they spoke, photographs of them, or even act out what may have happened?
-Students can connect to stories of their own families.
-A focus on daily life of certain people can work well.

-Students can learn about history through their family members stories by interviewing them.
-Teachers must help their students learn how to collect their information & display it in a way that makes sense, using a graphic organizer can be beneficial!
-Organizing their findings aids students in gaining insight into concept meanings, & identify patterns that came from the interviews conducted. This can lead to creating a visual presentation displaying the info!
