Makeover planned for downtown Independence
Officials in Independence are hoping to reinvent one of the oldest downtown areas in the Kansas City area.  Twenty-five years ago, city leaders said virtually every building around the square was boarded up.  Now, there are new restaurants and more people coming to the area, but the city wants to do more.
City officials are hoping to add more green spaces, incorporate more art and get better lighting and sidewalks along the square.  The project will cost the city some money. Pope Opens Free Laundromat for Rome’s Poor

Pope Francis Laundry' 6 washers, dryers, and irons donated by Michigan based Whirlpool. He desires "...to restore dignity to so many people who are brothers and sisters and who are called, with us, to build a city we can trust,” Located in the Trastevere neighborhood near the Vatican, officials say they soon hope to install showers and barbershop within the facilities, making it a haven of free, valuable services to the poor people of Rome.
