I had already read about the story in the article from last week. but the excerpt gave a really in depth explanation about the plot and it's message. I learned the beginning of the story about the adventures of Gilgamesh and Enkidu, and as well the characters they encountered along the way, since we are just 2 chapters in. My favorite thing that I learned from this tall tell was the amount of meaningful messages behind this story, and how much most of it still applies to modern day.

Gilgamesh then met Enkidu who helped him on his journey until his passing. Enkidu’s passing helped Gilgamesh find his true self.

People are upset by this so they tell Aruru, the creator of Gilgamesh, and she creates Enkidu. While watching the Youtube 'Crash Course' video for The Epic of Gilgamesh, it helped to explain Gilgamesh's journey and also how living a good life is better than living an eternal life. Enkidu and Gilgamesh had clashed at first, they were the same size and sought out to fight each other. After wrestling and ultimately realizing nobody is going to win, they decided to call it quits. However, this had sparked the creation of their friendship, because they were able to acknowledge that they were pretty common. The story emphasizes how fond they grew of each other, and the pain Gilgamesh faces after Enkidu's death. I also learned more details about Enkidu's beginnings as well and how Enkidu was raised in the wild, and how he spent some of his time with shepherds. I also found more about Gilgamesh's and Enkidu's first meeting, which was when Enkidu was trying to stop Gilgamesh from entering the bride's house.
