I enjoy using the generative AI in the classroom to make my slides presentations more interesting. You can use AI to create custom images. In my class, I teach with stories and they are sometimes goofy so it helps in making that more creative.

Getting suggestions of ideas for activities...you can give Chat GPT a topic and it can give you a complete lesson plan along with various activities, questions, written tasks, online tasks. It can be geared to a certain age group and then you can prompt it to make the tasks easier or more difficult.

Use of any tool atrophies the ability to function without the tool. Dependence on a calculator may weaken their number-sense, but generative AI simulates almost all aspects of creativity. So students will learn to create more, better products, but they will lose the skills to create without these tools.

There's a time and place for everything. It depends on the activity and purpose. If I'm teaching a writing class and I want to work on following a rubric and evaluating their own (or other's) writing, the task could be to generate new content based on a prompt that they could evaluate based off of a rubric. Rubrics, assignments where the task is to analyze and make a personal connection, how does an event make you feel, showing their thought process, projects/tasks, etc are several ways to guarantee personal, student-created content. But even then, let them use AI as a thinking partner or guide.
