I relate to women because I am a woman in the United States. Women several decades ago did not have the same rights as I do now as a woman. Women as a role before, is different then it is now. For women to become equal to men it was long and hard journey to do so. Woman get to do most of the same things as men but will still be considered different then them. Women are ridiculed for some things that they do. As of now, women are not considered the same as men. Woman are still trying to become equal to men. Woman's rights still need to be protected today.

Current Event- Hillary Clinton's run for president

Since Hillary Clinton is one of the first females to run for president, it has become a new stepping stone for women's fight to gain actual unalienable rights. It took a long time for women to come to a place where they can feel like they can run for president. In an article by CNN, it describes how "polls show dramatic splits based on gender, with men going for Trump and women favoring Clinton"(Henderson). Clinton is showing how woman can do the things that men do. Clinton describes how this is "our moment to come together" and how there are no "limits" (Henderson). She says how she wants to "{fight} to even the odds" and make women equal to men.

http://www.nwhp.org/resources/womens-rights-movement/history-of-the-womens-rights-movement/
http://www.biography.com/people/hillary-clinton-9251306
http://www.cnn.com/2016/06/06/politics/clinton-first-woman-nominee-democratic-primary/

Current Event- Wages in California

In California, a new law has passed for changing minimum wage to $15. For workers this is a good thing. Having this push for minimum wage to raise for most people is a good thing. Most people who work at minimum wage jobs are women, therefore the raise of minimum wage will help women more than men. This also proves that men are the main ones with the jobs that make the money, so for women to be at a professional job is not as much as a need as it is for women. Raising minimum wage will help "millions of workers" and help them access unalienable rights for themselves and their children. With the minimum wage staying where it is, most families with single moms will be below the poverty line(NWLC).

http://nwlc.org/issue/minimum-wage/
http://www.usatoday.com/story/money/2016/03/28/california-raises-minimum-wage-15-hour/82348622/

My identity has impacted me as a person and in my community. For me, as a worker and a woman, I have seen how my access to unalienable rights is and will be limited until all of America changes their mindset as a whole. Hillary Clinton's run for president has set a stepping stone for woman's gain for unalienable rights. The wage change in California for workers has also shown how workers are going to access unalienable rights. As America continues my identity may change based on the access unalienable rights.

Overall, women are not given access to unalienable rights. Something that I have noticed is that if you are a women and are affiliated with any other role, there still will not be an equal access to unalienable rights. My identity has been effected by my unalienable rights because my identity is based off of my interactions with others.
