The quote "Purpose-the intention to contribute to the well-being of others.." 

In my opinion, it is crucial for individuals to have passion for things that they do directly and how it impacts their well being, before they can contribute to the well being of others. However, the chapter makes it seem more like the people with the most grit, tend to have higher levels of passion. On page 145 "..the idea of purpose is the idea that what we do matters to people other than ourselves." 

I am wondering the thoughts of others in terms of my opinion and if others might agree or disagree. ]]> 2023-08-02 15:14:19 UTC https://padlet.com/twilliams402/zkh2r3hyt1xphvhh/wish/2654865375 kmcpeak4 https://padlet.com/twilliams402/zkh2r3hyt1xphvhh/wish/2656201450 I agree that it is helpful for people to have passion for the things they do - I feel that way about my work as a teacher - but I also think that sometimes people have to take a job that they might not feel passionate about, but that will enable them to find a decent place to live and/or have health care options. Sometimes that also allows them to get through that and get to a point where they can try something they love. OR sometimes work is a means to an end - a person has a passion for traveling, so they work to make money to travel. They have grit because they persevere to get to what they really want to do.
