The Freshman Focus group will function as a closed small counseling group which will accept 9th-grade students (ages 14-15) who experience academic stress and anxiety during their high school transition. The group creates a protected space for students to exchange their difficulties while acquiring coping methods and forming bonds with classmates who encounter comparable challenges. The group will welcome 6 to 8 participants who will attend six consecutive sessions. It will help students to build resilience and stress-management skills and academic confidence which will help them succeed in their first year of high school.
