Reclaiming the word is so important, and by using it, they are taking the power that it has had over them and removing it/using it to work towards equalling the playing field. Say if someone who isn't black said the word in a culture where it is solely used by black people, there would be a higher chance that they would be corrected/educated and put in their place. If it isn't used at all though, any use of it could bring trauma to the forefront of a person's mind, create it, or just be really damaging in general. The least that we owe black people, after 400 years and counting of being dragged in the dirt, is power over this ONE thing. It's LESS than the least that people owe. The fact that non-black people can't give up the use of ONE word and accept that they shouldn't use it shows how incredibly privileged they are. If a person is upset about that, then just try going through what black people experience in their every day lives.
