I am not convinced that data-based decision making is the direction for the future of education (lightning will strike me down any minute!). Too much is about collecting data and programs and technology. What is lost is quality teaching. I think this class has been the most important for me in my graduate study. I learned that administrators do administrative things to keep doing administrative things. In 2010-12 I had opportunity to work a lead facilitator for PD in-services and teacher training workshops throughout Michigan. I found a majority of teachers to be required to attend and reluctant. Am I becoming one of those teachers? Every couple of years, a shiny new thing comes around the corner.
