This week we have achieved a few of our basic goals, for example, we completed our first document explaining the activities and future achievements for the first and second semester. We also created our Padlet website. On Friday, we all participated in the Eagle Picnic and at the end of the day, we collected some chip bags that were used during lunch. We already have our first box to collect bags and wrappers. We all decorated it with drawings and text. You can find it in Miss Melanie's classroom! We have put the boxes (and decorated them) in all of the classrooms. 50+ wrappers have been collected. New posters were put on the boxes.

Accomplishing goals is our sport! New blue bins have been purchased and located 1 in the cafeteria (and other lunch tables) 1 at the end of the staircase, 1 in front of the library and one at the elementary school. We have the ecology coordinator's e-mail (lucero.diaz@ciac.edu.mx) and we will stay in touch, her office is located in room 13 at CES. Also, we have made new posters and a cookie monster in elementary and decorated the boxes that are going inside of the classrooms. As a team, we've been to every classroom to give announcements explaining our project and the procedures to accomplish it. You can also find a TerraCycle box in the teachers' lounge. We're really happy to continue with this project! So far, so good.

Fiona made a box for Miss Morrow's classroom. Marina, Paulina, and Alin helped by collecting the waste and Paulina offered to take the excess waste to a storage space.
Miss Nancy liked our initiative and said that was going to help us by mentioning us in the weekly announcements.

Also, we put all of the material that we have been recollecting since the beginning of the school year in two separate boxes (one for chip bags, one of the cookie wrappers and the other one for the toothpaste materials), it was a bit hard to get them in the boxes because we got a lot of material! Thank you so much for that! We even had to put scotch tape so they didn't break.
Thank you, Miss Ana, for contacting Terracyle to help us with our project.
We got bad news this week... the Terracycle program for recycling chip bags and cookie wrappers will be closing on November 30th so we will send all of our previously recollected materials to Terracycle as soon as possible. We would also like to thank every single person that helped us with this amazing project.
This week we also made new posters.
We really wanted to be part of ecology week but due to our schedules we didn't have the opportunity but we're still in touch with Miss Lucero.
We're very happy that the IAS community is helping us as much as they can with toothpaste tubes, toothbrushes and toothpaste boxes. Currently, we’re looking for other TerraCycle programs to keep helping and promoting the environment’s protection (were in between Shampoo bottles, soap wrappers, and aerosol sprays). Even though we had some inconveniences with sending the boxes to the recycling program, we still went to the office to send our boxes. Also, we picked all of the materials in the school (IAS and CES) as always.

We send a message of thanks to Miss Annie (technology area in junior school) because she helps us with the social media to promote our project. The box of toothpastes, tubes and brushes was delivered to the dealer of the Redpack company and sent to Terracycle. (On December 13th, we called Redpack parcel and a man named Emilio Nieto confirmed that the box package was received at Terracycle.) Returning from holidays, the first week of January we introduced the new program: soap packaging of any brand. Therefore, we changed all the previous posters with new ones decorated and we put the containers back. Also, we send an announcement explaining the chips and cookies wrappers had closed and introducing the new program for this semester so that IAS community support us! Thanks Miss Ana for promoting our project and motivating the school to help recycling and collecting the materials needed for the programs of Terracycle.

Our team is very artsy and talented! On Friday Josmari, JP and Fiona went to every class that didn't have the new posters in the boxes and we pasted them so that the students and faculty know that now we accept soap packages and toothpaste material.
We also sent a message to Miss Francelia (IAS) and Miss Annie (CES) because both of them are in charge of social media and we wanted them to do a post expressing our gratefulness towards the community for helping last semester and to motivate them to help us this semester with our new project.

This week we picked up the new materials like every week, but there was a problem... there were few materials on the boxes! Even though we have put new announcements and posters on the boxes people still threw chip bags (and that's so last year); therefore, Miss Ana helped us develop a new strategy to motivate the students to bring us the material. We divided our group by two and every pair is in charge of a few grades from middle school and high school so they become those grades' representatives. (Josmari and Juan Pablo: 7th and 8th grade/ Paulina and Alin: 8th and 10th grade/ Fiona and Marina: 11th and 12th grade) The new strategy is that every homeroom has to bring plastic soap packages as many as they can and by the deadline (March 22nd, which is the last day of school before spring break) the homeroom with the most packages wins a pizza party. The goal is to motivate the classrooms and for us to get a lot of new material. On the deadline, we will count the packages and announce the winners! When we spread the word to the classrooms we noticed that the students got really excited about the new activity and that is helping us realize that Miss Ana came up with an excellent idea! And also, thank you to Miss Ana for not only inspiring the students but also inspiring the team!
We researched a little bit and TerraCycle also accepts the little boxes the soap comes in, meaning that we will get more material.
Thank you, Miss Dea, for perfectly explaining at the assembly our new project and how it's working.
Thanks for everyone that is helping! We're trying really hard! Keep pushing!

Like always, we picked up the materials from IAS and CES. We found a bit but not as much as we wanted to. But we're pretty sure that the new technique will motivate the students and we're hoping for a change in the environment. We made a few posters explaining our new strategy and we pasted them on some walls from different classrooms.
We went to a few classrooms (and with different teachers) to explain the project and clear some doubts. We recently found out that we can also recycle the cardboard boxes that soaps come in (and also the plastic packages). Also, we changed and gave Miss Liliana a new decorated box because she is encouraging students and we are really happy with her help.

This has been the week that the community has supported us the best! We're really happy and we will like to give an honorable mention to 7th grader Natalia Graff (she brought us 20 soap packages), 12th grades Sofia Moreno, Fiona Alexander and Josmari Fernandezfor bringing toothpaste material.
Every pair from the TerraCycle team went to their respective grades to promote the program and explain any doubts.
We've directly talked with TerraCycle and they've cleared some of our doubts (for example, if we can bring small soap packages, like the ones the give in hotels, and they said it was okay).
We want to thank Mr. B and Miss Mallory for encouraging their homeroom classes to bring the material; therefore supporting our project. Mr. B will perform a lab class with soap and he will collect the packaging afterwards.
Miss Liliana has always helped us and has always been worried for us and always ready to help us with everything. Thank you Miss!
Both 8th grade homerooms have competed with each other to win the pizza party. JP and Josmari sent a message to the group chats with all the 8th graders' moms to motivate them even more. Both 8th grades are even; therefore, we're waiting for Miss Liliana to update us with the new results and help us choose a winner. Next week she will tell us her final decision, and she will give 10% on the bimestral exam to the winners.

This week, the IAS/CES community seemed very motivated. On Thursday, the whole Ecology class dressed up and us, TerraCycle, we went to ever class available to explain the project (like every week so they don't forget) while dressed up and we noticed that the students payed more attention to us and asked many more questions! Great strategy! Natalia Patá and Mar Estella, are two 7th graders that are working very hard with our project and both of them brought 20 soap packages -each- and also toothpaste materials. Miss Ana gave them 1 extra point for helping us.
Miss Liliana has finally chosen the class that got 10%+ on their test and... congrats 8th grade A! You won! We agree with your decision and thank you so much Miss for your support!
The grades that are winning for now are 7th and 8th grade, which seem very happy and motivated. Every time we go with those grades to explain and remind the project they seem very excited and supportive and also, Miss Liliana agreed to help us by paying the sodas a the pizza party if 8th grade wins.
Thursday, 22nd of March will be the deadline and the day we count the soap packages and see who wins the contest.
We're so happy! The students and faculty seem very happy like us, excited and supportive and many more materials are brought every week.

This week, we went to all the classrooms to motivate them and to answer questions that they had. We thanks the student Diego Camacho who helped us bringing more materials needed. So far the room that has collected the most is 8B with a total of 47 but 8A and 7B are very close to reaching that amount and passing it.

We went to primary to pick up the materials and we collected more than we have thought. We also sent an email to Miss Lucero to coordinate and see her because she was very busy the past few weeks.

This bimester Professor Ernesto is going to help us as well as Miss Ana, who will give extra points to students of 7 and 10 who collect soap packages. This week we decided to organize ourselves so that everything is in order and we separate all the materials IAS community had brought us according to the type of product that it is, and we were impressed because we saw a lot of effort and desire for helping the project. We are very excited and we are still encouraging them to continue supporting us!

This makes us think that the IAS community is already becoming aware and that our project is taken seriously and that our effort motivating them to support is working. Therefore, we are helping them to have an environmental education, since they take their time to bring and put the materials for recycling in the corresponding box. This impacted us and made all the team members very happy.

We went to explain to the classrooms that they only have one week left to bring the soap packaging and choose the winner of the pizza party as we published a daily announcement remembering March 15th as the due date of the contest so that they continue collecting soap packaging.

The 8th graders are motivated and asked us several questions, they are very competitive!

We returned from Spring Break! We are very motivated and excited because we want the whole school to support us in these last months. We put all the blue baskets and the red boxes back to their places because they were in Miss Ana's room during the holidays so that they were safe. Also, the entire team met with Miss Ana to talk about a new strategy to help us collect materials. Therefore, the idea is that we will make a contest but instead of pizza we will give brownies: Brownie Party! We went to explain each classroom and its homeroom teachers. The minimum amount to enter the contest is 60 items. We decided that this time we would count in addition to the soap wrappers, the toothpaste tubes, toothpaste boxes, and toothbrushes. The deadline will be May 21st. Therefore, there is more opportunity for them to bring more items to contribute with us. Some students had doubts and we answered their questions, but they were very pleased that the prize will be brownies. Also, several students realized that the previous winner did receive the gift and realized it is a more serious and useful contest. We hope this new strategy will work as well as the previous one. And we would love to exceed the amount of collected materials!

However, we will all still support the project so we can collect as many materials as possible during our last few months as Seniors because we're becoming role models to future Seniors and leaving a mark in the school reminding everyone of what we have done during our last year of high school.
This week we went to CES (Elementary and Kinder) to pick up the materials and we're so pumped and happy because the IAS community is doing a very god job at teaching the younger generations to recycle and put the materials in the right bins.
We would like to thank Miss Chelsea who has been supporting and motivating her students to bring the materials; therefore, we made a special custom bin for her so her students can put the materials there, thank you!

This week was Earth Day and we really feel that our project is making a good change and impact in the community; therefore, we're helping our planet one step a time and with as much help we can provide.
We sent an announcement because we noticed that students kept putting chip bags and cookie wrappers in one of the baskets and we cleared out that we DON'T collect them anymore.
We talked mis Miss Melanie Green, she's one of the 11th grade's homeroom teachers, and we convinced her to help us with supporting our project and giving extra points to her students that bring the materials. We've noticed that many homeroom teachers have bags with many of the materials and that's helping us feel confident and hopeful in our project knowing that there's a good chance we have a good outcome on this project. Thanks for helping!

This week, the school principal, Miss Nancy, helped us by sending an announcement to remind the students that our project is still standing. We're still trying to motivate the community to bring the material. Also, JP and Josmari have pasted new posters announcing the brownie party in every 11th and 12th grade homeroom.
We would like to thank Miss Mary Elise because she's always reminding her students to help us in our project and informing them about it, explaining them all of the details about our brownie party; therefore, we can get more of the toothpaste tubes, boxes, brushes, and soap packaging with everyone's help.
If every person bring at least 1 item, they're already helping us so thank you for that.

This week was challenging but exciting. We wrote a formal letter in Spanish and English to all the teachers of the school to inform them in detail about the Brownie Party and Miss Ana helped us sharing the letter with them. Likewise, Miss Ana recommended to change the date of the last collection to Wednesday May 30th so that students had more time to collect materials and we think it is an excellent strategy...Thanks Miss! We start with a new method to take better control over the effort of each team member, in which each mini team needs to make a table with the following requirements: date, number of items and teacher with the objective that each homeroom teacher signs weekly the total of items collected.
We hope IAS community continue supporting us because we can make a change in our school community helping the environment!

This week was rewarding because we saw that several grades supported more. Therefore, as Miss Ana says, we find that the mother of teaching is the repetition, since students have had daily announcements. Also, we sent a Whats App message to Juniors (11th grade) to motivate them and make it a more direct reminder. We went to elementary school and we are very glad because we always find material to collect, so we spoke with Miss Lucero to send a similar letter to the elementary teachers in Spanish and English to promote with the children the importance of the project and to remind them the due date before the last shipment of this school year is made. Also, we are very happy because Miss Ana received an email from Terracycle informing us that shipments of Palmolive products (soap packaging) will receive 200 extra points if they are sent in May as well as Colgate products ... so we would have 400 points extras ... so exciting!

This week we received a lot of support. We were surprised because even Miss Nancy gave us material to collect as she knows that it is a project in which we work hard. The 9th and 10th grades helped more than other weeks, especially Miss Ana's homeroom. We are very grateful for the support of the school because they mention us in the announcements and in Algebraix they uploaded a publication with the logo of the company Terracycle as a reminder and a motivation to collaborate together as IAS Community. We are very happy because Miss Ana helped us ask for the guides to be able to make the shipments next week ... thank you very much Miss! There is less and less time for us to finish collecting, since our classes are almost finished, but every time we have more and more products with the support of all!
