Then growing up I wanted to be an astronaut. But the dificulty of one and the fear of seeing the animals in pain stopped me.
So I decided from high school to go to medicine which was closest to vet.
Today, if I want to be a doctor, it is because I have always wanted to treat and take care of those around me. In addition, I find medical studies extremely interesting and fulfilling.
I think that to achieve this goal I must know how to speak English fluently to a patient so that he understands the stakes of his disease. All this while learning medical vocabulary.
My strong point in English is vocabulary and my weak point is conjugation.
I hope that this year I will learn medical vocabulary and that I will not make any more conjugation errors. I learned thanks to this video, that you have to be really careful about the way in which people appropriate scientific studies for themselves in order to sell their products (example of the fake doctor who gives nutritional advice to millions Americans live on television). And that you have to go and look in depth at how the scientific study was carried out and verify the results (example of the study which does not show the part of the epidemiological curve showing the bad results).
2. I was shocked at studies that want to demonstrate efficacy over a pre-existing molecule and that do not use the right doses of the old molecule to treat patients in order to "prove" the superiority of their molecule. I find it cruel and totally unethical.
3. This video made me realize that we can be distorted by even the most serious scientific studies. What are the patient's results?

He certainly has the earliest stage of diabetes because of his first blood test (1,15g/L) and he has to confirm with a second test to check if he has diabetes (>1,26g/L)

 What are the items that the patient is worried about?

The patient is worried about to take insuline because of his fear of needles
He is also worried about is foot (in fact in severely stage of diabetes, the foot can be amputated)
So, he is worried about to lose his job and his family behind that

How does the doctor reassure the patient?

He tells that if the patient follow his recommendation, it won’t happen

Could the doctor have done things a little differently, and if so, how?

The physician can be more empathetic with his patient

What do you think about the advice given?

It shows that it is very important to be empathetic with our patients and to pay attention to our verbal and non-verbal attitude and I agree with that.

Would this advice work in a French context?
